activerain: Happy Thanksgiving...A Time of Reflection - 11/24/10 11:19 PM
Happy Thanksgiving to my Activerain friends and community.
I made this show on RealEstateShows.com to show my gratitude in honor of Thanksgiving Day 2010.
One reason I use real estate shows is because not only can you create unlimited tours of all your listings for only $125.00 a year but also because you can create personal shows.

The history of the first Thanksgiving began in September 1620, when 102 passengers aboard the Mayflower ship sailed from Plymouth, England, to the New World.      •    The Pilgrims set their sights on land ownership, prosperity and the … (39 comments)

activerain: Thanksgiving Reflection on Activerain in Black & White - 11/27/08 03:21 AM
There is so much to be thankful for this year, it is hard to know where to start. So grab a cup of coffee and watch this Smilebox I made for all my Activerain friends here.
Last year, I set a goal to meet 100 members of Activerain in person. Well, I far succeeded that goal. It was some of the highlights of the year for me to meet people at Inman Connect, Re-Bar Camp, KW Family Reunion and NAR in Orlando.
I wonder if Jon Washburn the founder of Activeran has any clue what he created here? The relationships … (55 comments)

activerain: Blogging Seminar and Mystery Active Rain Dude speaking in Ann Arbor - 10/23/08 12:34 AM
Lani Anglin Rosales wrote a post on AgentGenius a few weeks ago on a program called Slide Rocket. It is a free alternative to Power Point. So I tried it out and found it really easy to use.
Tomorrow, Friday, October, 24th at 10:00, I am doing a Blogging Seminar at Keller Williams in Ann Arbor, so I created a slide presentation for it.
We are going to have a mystery Activerain Community Builder doing the seminar with me. Now to find out who it is you will have to go and read my Ann Arbor Real Estate Talk blog.  While … (25 comments)

activerain: "The No Spin Zone" - 09/23/08 10:31 PM
Are you who you say you are?  When I first started blogging in 2006, it didn’t take long to figure out a few blogging buzz words. One of those words was transparent, or transparency.
Transparency, as used in the humanities, implies openness, communication, and accountability. It is a metaphorical extension of the meaning used in the physical sciences: a "transparent" object is one that can be seen through.
Can your readers see the real you?
Transparency in real life is about Trust.
Transparency in the blogosphere is also about Trust.
Are you who you say you are in … (111 comments)

activerain: My Legacy Online - 09/15/08 01:05 PM
When I think about the word legacy, the first thing that pops in my head is family. Actually the word legacy does apply to "something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past."  Thinking about my on-line legacy causes me to reflect on the history I have left behind in the rain.
So grab a bowl of popcorn this is long.

With family being the most important people on earth to me, many of my posts have been written on in honor of them.
The one post on Alyssa's Wreck  written in July … (29 comments)

activerain: So Ya Want to be a Writer ( Blogger) - 09/13/08 12:58 AM
Writing Blogging is hard work, for those who take the task seriously. Writing done right can be energizing and rewarding .  Anyone can throw up a post of words, copy a topic over and over again, to earn points or gain Google Juice.
Maya Angelou said, "The idea is to write it so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart."
Freidrich Nietsche said, "Of all writings I love only that which is written with blood. Write with blood: and you will discover that blood is spirit."
Anais Nin, "We write to taste life twice, … (10 comments)

activerain: Activerain Friends are Real Friends - 09/06/08 01:24 PM
Today Kim Wood, my apprentice from MakeOver2TakeOver contest came to visit. She had her 2 daughters and her husband Michael, stopped here on to have brunch with us.
We had a great time, not long enough.............but long enough to catch up and share Twitter stories. We are all going to Inman Connect in January 2009 in N.Y. City.
I cooked four breakfast casseroles, and picked up a Sour Cream Coffee cake from Zingermans.
My two daughters were going to the Michigan vs Miami of Ohio game, and I think at one point Kims husband was ready to cancel his sisters wedding … (14 comments)

activerain: Seasons of Life for Ann Arbor Realtor - 09/04/08 11:29 PM
I think this is the longest I have gone without a post since I began blogging on Activerain in Dec 2006.
Not sure if it was burn out from all the localism posts, I was trying to do or maybe trying to learn Vista and Office 2007, and getting all the files transferred over to the Sony.
I just hired a new assistant, and after having Betty for 10 years, there has been a lot of training to do getting my systems up and running with her.
However, I'm excited!

If my business was not systematized, I would be … (31 comments)

activerain: Ann Arbor Undressed - 07/16/08 11:24 AM

EXTRA, EXTRA....READ ALL ABOUT IT!!

With all the chat last week about the new Localism, I forgot to introduce my new Activerain outside blog.
It is called Ann Arbor Undressed.
Why?
I don't know, I just liked it and I bought the domain months ago.
I love that I can send the local posts over there and keep the more Activerain community (industry people talking to industry people) over here.
It is such a time saver to be able to write one post and send it to that site, without having to maintain another site.
If you have … (35 comments)

activerain: Thoughts and Ramblings - 05/10/08 11:04 AM
I'm still in Nashville, visiting my friend, "mom". We can only go in every 3 hours and she is sedated to keep her calm with the breathing tube. The first few days, she didn't know I was here, but now she does.
Yesterday, between appointments Sharon and I went driving around Nashville, I have been here so many times that Nashville, feels like home to me. But, it was fun looking at the City thinking of photographs.
I am so thankful to Christa and Betty. They have made my time here so stress free. Christa went and showed Kelly Siblesky's sister … (35 comments)

Many times when we are reading posts, you see in the comments, "good job, bookmarked for later."

activerain: Short-Sale and Foreclosure Expert on Activerain, I need your Recommendations - 03/05/08 03:26 AM
I have a question, directed to all the short sale and foreclosure experts here on Activerain.
We had this discussion this morning at our board meeting of the Ann Arbor Board of Realtors.
When you list a short-sale or a foreclosure in the MLS, you offer a co-broke commission to the Realtors as an offer of compensation if they bring a ready and willing buyer.
Then the bank comes along and says, “No, we will only pay XXX”, that is much lower than what you offered in the MLS. The Buyer Agents have been saying, too bad, you offered this … (61 comments)

activerain: KW Convention Update - 02/13/08 06:26 AM
This will be short and I'll post more later, as only back in the room for a few minutes. Seth Godin spoke today, in the Key Note Session. It was, without a doubt very inspiring and he  spoke on this latest book the The Dip. If you remember this was the book Fran suggested to me I read when I was trying to make my decision on whether to go or stay at RE/MAX.

Yesterday Mariana Wagner spoke on blogging. It was really good, she is an excellent speaker and her personality really comes through. Did I say I felt like I … (55 comments)

Let me introduce to you Karen Moorhead. Karen is a Realtor at Keller Williams in Ann Arbor, who I first met blogging on Activerain. The first time I met Karen when I was touring the Keller Williams office, we gave each other a big hug. Yea, that’s what Activerain does for you, instant connection. activerain: “Converting Technology to Cash” - 02/07/08 10:12 AM
Is this a great title for the Con-Ed class I took today with the Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors, or what?
Verl Workman, was the speaker and it was one of the most exciting con-ed classes I have taken. It was sponsored by the Ann Arbor Board of Realtors, not only did it count for 3 hours of con-ed, it was FREE.
One of the topics was Social Networking and besides LinkedIn, and FaceBook ActiveRain was up on the overhead. Yea….
Val asked, “how many of you are blogging?”
Out of 125 Realtors present, maybe 10% raised their … (51 comments)

activerain: See Ya in the Rain... or wherever - 12/21/07 09:40 AM
When I was a little girl, and would be leaving my grandmother's house she would  always say, "Be sweet, see you in my dreams."
My mother use to say, "Be good."
My dad use to say, "Remember who you are."
Lately, when I leave a message for someone on other social networks, I've been saying,
"See ya in the rain".
Lately, I have been joining other Social Networks, seems like more and more pop up and are started every day. I joined Naymz in December 2006, wasn't quite sure what it was all about and then last month all of a sudden lots of Activerain … (62 comments)
