The Dominican Republic is located in the Caribbean on the island of Hispaniola.  It sits 120 miles east of Jamaica.  Christopher Columbus unofficially discovered the Dominican Republic in 1492.  After this "discovery", this area became something of a launching point for conquests througout the region.  Soon after, in 1496, Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, became the first European settlement in the West.
While the history of the area is fascinating, there's nothing linke the sandy beaches that buffer affordable vacation homes from crystal-blue waters.  And as a background, rain forests and sky-high palm trees border this lush paradise.  … (0 comments)

Recently, Viscape took a trip around the Dominican Republic, checking out the best sites and scouring the island for the most affordable vacation homes or most beautiful vacation rentals on the island.  In the process, they created a series of videos about their experiences.
One trip took them to the most exclusive neighborhood in the Dominican Republic (Seahorse Ranch) or made them miss a hike due to a few broken steps. (OK.  It was more like all of the steps.)
