      <title>T-ball team</title>
<description>Sitting at the baseball field yesterday evening watching my grandson play, I began talking to another little boy's mother.  We began talking about how great it was to have a great program in our area for the kids to play.  The field is nice, the field house, the batting cage, concession stand, all very well taken care of.
Just so happens, this mom is on the Board for the League in our area.  We talked about the programs, teams, fund raising.  I thought......"why not buy an ad in the program?"  It honestly never occurred to me.  The more we talked, I learned that a t-ball team needed a sponsor.
Very reasonably priced, I made the decision to sponsor the little t-ball team.  How excited the kids will be to have the name of OUR team on THEIR uniforms....The Dream Team.  It's a great way to get our name out there in front of more public AND a great way to help little children get to play that otherwise would not have a sponsor!
It's all about the community!!!  And we LOVE ours!  Good Luck Dream Team t-ball team!

<title>Where should you put your advertising dollars?</title>
<description>I am sure the answer to this question depends on the market in your area.  The market in our area is great!  We are starting a new marketing campaign that will surely be successful.  We do advertise on the television.  We also do the real estate books and direct mail.  Also, we are in the process of having three different billboards made to put up in our county.  All of this cost us our advertising dollar.
However, we have found that the best method of advertising is just word of mouth, referrals from friends and/or past clients.  And this cost us $0 dollars!  Just make sure you ask for referrals from everyone you know!  Whether they are buying/selling or not, they may know of someone who is.  Try it, it works and it's FREE!!

      <title>Sky's the Limit!</title>
<description>&lt;img src="https://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/1/8/3/9/3/ar126636341239381.jpg"&gt;Last Last week, we, the Dream Team, flew to Orlando Florida to attend a Hobbs/Herder Marketing Gateway.  It was very informative and well worth the trip.  We met a lot of really nice Realtors from other states and Greg Herder was our speaker.  He really motivated us!!!  The sky is truly the limit!  What a breakthrough we had!  We do have to say that we will never be the same after that Gateway.
We learned so much about ourselves, our team and marketing.  Most importantly we believe that the greatest thing we learned is that WE are the only ones holding US back.  Now with US out of the way, we are ready, and have already started, to blow the doors off this business.
Here in West Virginia, the market did not have the big explosion a few years ago that the rest of the Country did.  Therefore, we did not have the major slump that happened.  We are really excited about this business!
When we were above the clouds, that's when we realized that the sky IS the limit!  We highly recommend to you Realtors out there to attend a Hobbs/Herder Marketing Gateway if at all possible.  It has truly changed our lives!

      <title>New Team</title>
<description>I have a partner now!  I'm so excited about being on a team.  Her name is Phyllis Carpenter and she has been in the real estate business for a few years too.  I am so motivated by the formatin of this team.  We have been working on flyers, cards, brochures, etc. with our new team name on it.  We are "The Dream Team: We Make Your New Home Dreams Come True!"  We think that's kinda catchy...what do you think?
Phyllis and I have a lot in common in our personal lives, both married, kids, grandkids, Packers fans, I could go on and on.  So far (it's been about 3 weeks) we have had a great time and been very productive.  It's hard to get out of the habit of saying me and I instead of we and us, but I'm working on that.
Do any of you work on teams?  How are they working out?  How did you officially announce your formation?  Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.  So I guess this really isn't a blog, it is more like a information seeking comment.
I'm just excited!!!  I mean--WE are excited!

<title>FUN FUN FUN at the Realtor Convention in Charleston WV</title>
<description>Our State convention is being held here in Charleston this weekend.  I've never been to a convention, so I decided not to miss it this year since it is so close to home.  So, it started yesterday and I was there when it opened.
We started the day with 3.5 hours of Ethics training.  The educator was very entertaining and time passed quickly.  We got clarification on some gray areas and all is good.  Not to mention we have that trainging taken care of for the next 4 years now.
When Ethics training was over, we went to the "Vendor Fair".  Numerous booths were set up to display all the banks, inspectors, advertising, etc., available for us.  I got to meet a lot of really nice people, did a lot of networking, and picked up a lot of "freebies"  Freebies are always fun!
We went to another 3.5 hour class in the afternoon.  Ok, now, this is true---the guy trained us on how to send an e-mail.  Oh my goodness how boring.  Now come on, if there is anyone in this business that doesn't know how to send an e-mail, we really need to help these folks.  BUT, it doesn't take 3.5 hours to learn how to send e-mail.  Finally that was over.
We had a nice buffet dinner and then the fun began.  The most fun I've had in a long time.  We played game shows kinda like Jeopardy.  It was a real high tech set up with the buzzers and lights and all the works.  Some of the contestants had to name that song and dance specific dances.  How funny!  Later it was Lazer Karoake.  Trust me, most Realtors really can't sing.  BUT it was too fun.
Today we are starting with getting new professional pictures taken to use in our advertising.  I can't wait to get up there in a couple hours and let the fun begin again.  I can't wait till next year's convention.  I won't miss one again.
If you haven't been to one, you gotta go.

      <title>PAYING IT FORWARD-FOR OUR SOLDIERS</title>
<description>We are some lucky people to live in this wonderful country of ours.  I truly appreciate our Soldiers and their families.  I have been trying to think of a good way to let them know how much I appreciate them fighting for our freedom and risking their lives to make mine and my family's life safe.
I have decided to donate 10% of my listing commissions, when the homes sell, to the Soldiers and their families.  I have done some research and found organizations I can donate items or money to to help.  The Soldiers always like to receive care packages from home.  I had a Captain who just got deployed to Iraq tell me that they really like to receive canned foods.  Also, the families left behind could be in financial binds.
I have begun today advertising to the public that I will donate 10% of my personal commission to these organizations to help those helping us.  I passed out flyers today at my open house announcing this and got a rave response.  Hopefully I will be able to help lots of families sell their homes as well as donate to our protectors!

      <title>Open Houses - What makes them work?</title>
<description>Ok, so I place the ad on Tuesday to be in the Real Estate Guide section of Sunday's paper-the one with all the open houses, the map to them all, etc.  Put a "Open Sunday" sign in the yard on Tuesday or Wednesday  before the open house so everyone can see it and plan for it.  I put pointers out that day to directing every to it.
Day of open house, I put helium balloons on all the signs to be sure to catch everyone's eye.  It's Sunday, 2pm, and guess what, only the neighbors come.  They just want to "check out property value in their neighborhood" or "I'm building and want to get some ideas".
Any ideas on how to draw the "serious buyer" instead of the "I need something to do on Sunday afternoon lookers"?
Too, what ideas can you give me to hand out for potential buyers to remember me and not just let me blend in with all the other Realtors they have met that day?
Thanks again, and you guys are right.  I'm TOTALLY obsessed with this site!

<description>Ok, here goes, my first blog.  I am new to ActiveRain, but have already learned a lot.  The blogs are great, and the comments are as well.  Very informative.  I've been a Realtor for a few years now.  I love working with first time homeowners.  Well, I just love working with everyone.  I am a people person and really enjoy meeting and helping people.  It seems that with every transaction, I learn something new.  I am with a wonderful company, Real Estate Central.  Everyone there is absolutely wonderful and it's certainly a TEAM, not individual efforts.  Everyone in our company is very helpful and positive.  The positive attitude, I believe, is a BIG part of being a success.  A great Realtor told me once "If you have one that falls thru, just move on to the next one."  With that attitude, my business is growing leaps and bounds.  I'm anxious to learn more on this network and to making new friends here.  Please introduce yourself to me and offer any advice you can.  Thanks!!
