Check out these stories of some popular chefs’ beginnings, including Louisiana’s own Emeril Lagasse! Emeril Lagasse got his start as a chef right in New Orleans and opened his first restaurant in 1990. He also published the best-selling cookbook "Emeril's New New Orleans Cooking," which grabbed the attention of executives at Food Network. Another new sign that the housing market is recovering at significant rates: The number of pending home sales is climbing! Here’s the details according to the National Association of Realtors: The pending home sales index seen through the end of May rose 6.7 percent from April and 12.1 percent on an annual basis. That’s the biggest reading nationwide since December 2006! In all, the index increased to 112.3.
