Not-So-Speechless Sunday: Beautiful Views of Missoula Lake in Mineral County Montana

Mineral County has 42 Pristine Mountain Lakes, including Missoula Lake which is located approximately 30 miles up Cedar Creek Road from Superior near the Montana / Idaho border.
87% of Mineral County is publicly-owned (U.S. Forest Service, State) so we have thousands of miles of amazing wilderness!

The water is so crisp and clean you can see almost the entire bottom of the lake, and all of the fish swimming in it!

View from the State Line Trail above Missoula Lake. This is looking into Idaho. You can see that … (10 comments)

lake: Breathtaking Views from Hoo Doo Pass in Mineral County - 08/28/08 07:07 AM
Earlier this summer we took a drive to Hoo Doo Pass near Superior, Montana. This is an amazing drive with breathtaking views from every side.
On the way you drive along a local favorite of fly fishermen - Trout Creek - which is rich in Trout, of course. The road leads you up a wide canyon. Along the way, you pass the trailhead for Heart Lake - a great day hiking trail.
Hoo Doo Pass is at the Montana / Idaho border and has a beautiful alpine feeling. There is also a trailhead for Hoo Doo Lake which I am told … (2 comments)

lake: Montana is Renowned for Its Blue Ribbon Fishing - Welcome Fly Fishers! - 01/31/08 12:57 PM
Montana is renowned not just for its "blue ribbon" fishing, but for our entire outdoor experience. In Montana, you can fish year-round, but there are seasonal regulations and water conditions that affect fishing. Fly fishers will find most waters in prime condition from late June through October, although March and April … (0 comments)

lake: Mineral County Median Home Prices Remain Strong Through 2007 - 01/16/08 01:45 PM
There has been a lot of negative national press about the real estate market recently. Reports of increased foreclosures and falling home prices seem to headline every news segment. What these national stories don't report is that many markets remain steady or are even growing slightly. So is the case with Mineral County and much of Western Montana.
During 2007, median home prices in the county increased significantly. The area of Alberton saw the median home sales price rise to $168,500, a 9.2% increase from 2006. The area from Fish Creek through Superior saw a median home price of $148,000, a … (0 comments)

lake: Missoula Lake - A Hidden Getaway in the Lolo National Forest above Superior Montana - 10/02/07 03:26 PM

We spent this past weekend at Missoula Lake above Superior with my parents. Missoula Lake is a beautiful alpine lake full of cutthroat and rainbow trout, although they are difficult to catch. It's only a short walk from the road and there are great camping spots above. When we were there, the first winter snows had already hit and there was about 1/2" of snow on the ground and a dusting on the trees. The drive to the lake was beautiful as well with the trees just changing color and seeing bright bursts of yellow and small red bushes on the … (4 comments)
