Streamside Realty opened a second office to serve Mineral County, Montana - including the towns of Superior, Alberton, St. Regis, Deborgia, Haugan, and Saltese. The office opened on November 1, 2008 and is located along the Clark Fork River in downtown Superior at 102 River Street. The phone number for the office is 406-822-SOLD (7653).
The primary office for Streamside Realty is in Missoula, MT on the corner of Mount and Stephens.
We are excited about the new location and will be holding a public open house in December.

I was recently invited to co-chair a group in Superior as part of the Horizons Program. We just returned from a training seminar in Great Falls and are ready to implement the program with our community kickoff that is scheduled for October 29th at 6:00 pm at the Superior High School Multi-Purpose Room.

superior: Our First Billboard - Located on I-90 Near Superior - RiverRidge, A Superior Lifestyle! - 10/05/08 06:45 AM
This week we installed our first billboard on Interstate-90 near Superior. This was quite a project as you can see. Kevin had to paint the background with primer as the billboard was a painted sign prior to installing our billboard.
The billboard measures 12' x 32' and starts about 10' off the ground. Fortunately we were able to borrow a lift from Lance at LRSignatureHomes for the installation.

The town of Superior is planning a celebration to commemorate the placement of the first Gideon Bible in a hotel room which took place in 1908 in the Superior Hotel. The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, October 4th at the original site of the Superior Hotel at 5:00 p.m. A short ceremony will be given by the President of the Gideons International.
According to the Mineral County Historical Society, At the Gideon Convention of 1908 it was proposed, "that the Gideons direct their energies toward furnishing a Bible for every guest room of hotels in the country."

Everyone has heard on the news about the mortgage crisis and the huge numbers of homes that are being foreclosed. Some states, such as California, even have bus tours that you can take to view all of the foreclosed homes.
When you're looking at foreclosures, it is critical to also understand the local market as there are HUGE differences.

Mineral County was home to one of the largest gold rushes in the state. It's hard to believe when you visit many of the drainages now that they were once home to thousands of people. An interesting news clip that I just came across from the Mineral County Historical Society is from the Mineral Independent (from the Missoulian 20 years earlier) August 31, 1933. It references Quartz Creek and its tributaries where we currently have properties listing - and mining claims!

Earlier this summer we took a drive to Hoo Doo Pass near Superior, Montana. This is an amazing drive with breathtaking views from every side.
On the way you drive along a local favorite of fly fishermen - Trout Creek - which is rich in Trout, of course. The road leads you up a wide canyon. Along the way, you pass the trailhead for Heart Lake - a great day hiking trail.

Anthropologists from the University of Montana, in conjunction with the US Forest Service, will be visiting Superior this week and performing an archeological dig in the China Gulch area of Cedar Creek. They were also here in 1995 and discovered several things, including the U-shaped hearth in this photo.
Cedar Creek has a colorful history to say the least. In 1869, a Frenchman named Louis Barrette discovered gold and established Louiseville, named after his wife. By 1870, Louiseville was a booming mining town, but within 3 years it would be completely abandoned.
