Door County Wisconsin is Open for Business: The 2013 Season is Here. Despite a weekend of cold and snow showers, Door County business are open and in full force for the 2013 season. Here is a list of businesses that have opened their doors for 2013: Pasta Vino: Located on the Ellison Bay hill, Pasta Vino opened just in time for Mother's Day weekend. Great food, worth the drive. You can't visit Door County and not try our native favorite, the Door County Fish Boil. Sound unappetizing? It's not, it's delicious! Fresh, locally caught whitefish is cut into chunks (ask for a tail section, it has the least bones) and boiled in salt water. Later, red potatoes and finally, baby onions are added. They all boil together separately (it's not a stew) and are lifted out after the dramatic "boil over", when the flames are raised to allow the pot to boil over and wash off any fish oils or other impurities.
