peninsula state park: Why Visit Door County in the Winter? Some Local Advice! - 12/04/14 06:14 AM
Why visit Door County, Wisconsin, in the winter?   Ask a local expert for some local advice!  Why try a visit during our off-season, our down time, when we have snow and ice?  True, some of businesses close down for the “slow season”.  And no one likes sub-zero temperatures.  But there are several EXCEPTIONAL reasons to visit Door County in the winter, and you can ask an expert.   I'm a full-time, local, year-round resident of beautiful Door County, Wisconsin.
In addition to being a Wisconsin real estate Broker, an ABR®, a CRS®, and an SRES® working full time throughout the Door Peninsula, I … (1 comments)

peninsula state park: Door County This Week: Nearly 2 feet of Snow! - 01/17/14 03:49 AM
Greetings from Door County, where the checkword is snow.  Twenty-one inches and counting since Tuesday in Sister Bay.  While it's truly a beautiful winter wonderland, it has cancelled dozens of property showings this week as most absentee owners have to count on property management companies that currently can't keep up with the plowing, snow blowing and shoveling.  The Door County Sheriff's Department counted 55 calls on cars in ditches or snow-related accidents on Tuesday on the day shift alone--and Tuesday's storm worsened into the evening.  Drive safely!  More snow is predicted this afternoon and into this evening.
This weekend will be prime time … (1 comments)

peninsula state park: Why Buy a Home in Door County? The Peninsula's Natural Splendor! - 12/29/12 02:30 AM
“Adapt the pace of nature; her secret is patience.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson
One of the most fascinating aspects of Door County is its incredibly unique natural beauty.  A peninsula surrounded by hundreds of miles of shoreline.  Towering pine forests.  Beautiful ash and pine-covered bluffs.  If you’re patient, you may see things here that you have only dreamed of.
If you view this property every day, you may learn to take it for granted.  That is why the visitors and residents to the Door Peninsula are so truly lucky.  Our Lake Michigan side is uniquely different from the faster paces of … (3 comments)

peninsula state park: Door County is Open for Business--See you at Peninsula State Park - 05/04/12 01:20 AM
Door County is Open for Business.   Our increasingly year-round community "officially" wakes up this weekend with the Door County Half Marathon at Peninsula State Park.  Most of our restaurants and shops will make this weekend the beginning of their season if they have been closed for the winter.  If running isn't on your agenda for Saturday, be sure to stop by the Sister Bay Bowl for the benefit for Haiti.  Afterwards, go across the street to Husby's Food and Spirits for live music outside.  End your day with additional live music at The Bowl or at JJ's/La Puerta if you have … (0 comments)

peninsula state park: Love Theatre? Another great reason to have your vacation home in Door County! - 03/07/12 12:22 AM
Congratulations are in order! Via the Village of Ephraim:  Last night American Folklore Theatre was awarded the first ever "Arts, Culture & Heritage Award" at the Wisconsin Governor's Conference on Tourism in Green Bay.  One has the opportunity to view their magnificent repretoire in Peninsula State Park or, when the weather chills, in downtown Ephraim.
I posted earlier about a great bank-owned property in Ephraim at $159,900.   Visit to get a view of that property.  More great inventory coming on every week.
Ephraim remains a fantastic second-home destination, with its old fashioned ice-cream parlor, sand beach, and spectacular shoreline.
