Unfortunately this sometimes seems to be the way staging is handled. Builders who do a great job with finishes and floorplans create stunning homes that should fly off of MLS. When they don't right away they decide the home needs to be staged, but rather than paying for a PROFESSIONAL STAGER, they turn to their wives, daughters or girlfriends. Now I will say as a staging training instructor, I've seen many of these candidates make great stagers, but usually after taking a little formal training so they really understand the why's and wherefors. So I've been trying to feed my mind and not just work, work and then spend time being mom/wife/friend. One of the things stagers and agents need to stop talking about is how much staging costs. in today's market we need to talk about the INVESTMENT of staging. Staging doesn't cost nearly as much as it provides in saved time on market and higher offers. Recently a Realtor in the Charleston/Mt. Pleasant market took the CSP Elite Agent course and received her CSP Affiliate Designation. When I arrived for her first staging consultation for a vacant unit that she personally owned she already knew the benefits staging would provide. This seems to be the philosophy of so many new staging training providers that are popping up in the industry these days. Have you noticed how many there are? Because many businesses are struggling, and of course staging training is a 'cash cow', they have decided to throw their hats into the ring - at least that is perception. In truth, courses that are properly prepared, written and presented are not 'cash cows'. They have high levels of overhead and expenses. They have industry professionals teaching the course who are taking time out of their busy schedules of running their own … (7 comments)

I know, I've written blog after blog about my profile photo. It seems to me that it's been strangely controversial. I decided to switch photos after having lost the high resolution image. This meant that I could no longer use it for business cards etc. I only had a sad little copy that I had taken from the internet (my own website - right clicked & saved... sigh). What I could never have expected is that I have received email after email and comment after comment (some online, some in person) about how much the red photo is missed.... but what … (10 comments)
