The St. Marys Police Department is pleased to announce an early start for fund raising efforts for the Badge of Benevolence.  The Badge of Benevolence program collects money, food, and clothing donations throughout the year in order to provide for families during the holidays. This program helped over thirty local families during this last Christmas holiday which provided each family Christmas dinner, gifts, clothing for the kids and family.  So this year the department is hosting a … (1 comments)

online marketing services for realtors: What about RealtySoft.com - 03/30/11 12:22 PM
I have several clients who have asked me  questions about RealtySoft.com and if these folks are worth it.  Let me preface this by saying these clients are Realtors who have been around for sometime but looking to save some money.  They have been told that RealtySoft.com is about $70 per month and they get a website, IDX, CRM and a print solution all for that price.  They are afraid to switch and are asking me for some advice.  So folks I am asking you  if you can tell me good or bad what your experiences have been.  I am looking into … (2 comments)

online marketing services for realtors: Jacksonville Fl construction jobs hit an all new low! - 02/01/11 02:16 PM
Jacksonville lost 1,000 construction jobs between December 2009 and December 2010, or 3 percent, with 29,000 hanging on to jobs in an industry that has been clobbered by the economic recession for the past three years.
That loss, however, was good news. It was the smallest December-to-December construction employment drop since 2007 and a sign that construction job losses finally are stemming. Still, at 29,000, there were fewer people employed in construction in the Jacksonville area in December than at any point in the last 10 years.
According to data released by the Associated General Contractors of America, Jacksonville ranks 138th … (0 comments)

online marketing services for realtors: Google catches Microsoft in the act! - 02/01/11 02:00 PM
Google has accused Microsoft of stealing Google;s search queries.  In a stunning search engine sting operation Google made up a search term and placed it on their servers.  The next day they checked Bing using the search term they made up and Bing gave back the same search query.  see below

Microsoft did not deny they were doing this.  Their comment was that Internet Explorer is designed to give Microsoft an idea of what people are searching for and allow them to use the results how they see fit.

online marketing services for realtors: What would you tell someone who is considering a real estate career? - 02/01/11 02:16 AM
I was at a meeting recently where several folks remarked how many fewer agents there happen to be in Camden County Ga.  I mentioned that I have seen the same thing happen.  Many agents have left the field to pursue other avenues of work.  A friend of mine up north has lost about 1/3 of his agents in the last 18 months.  He credits the economy and the fact that most that left his Brokerage were under-performers anyway
My question to the Realtors is what would you say either positive or negative to someone who is considering entering the Real Estate … (4 comments)

online marketing services for realtors: Former Jacksonville Contractor Found Guilty of Mortgage Fraud! - 12/16/10 11:57 AM

David Vickers, a former Jacksonviile, FL Contractor was found guilty today by a Federal Jury on conspiracy to commit mail, wire and bank fraud.  He faces up tp 30 years on these charges.   It seems Vickers was using the sellers money to make it look like the buyer was getting money gifted to them.  He even went as far as to have cashiers checks made out in the name of the buyers and buyers relatives. Vickers advertised his renovated  and new homes to buyers with credit scores as low as 550 and that he would help with down payment assistance.  He even went as far as … (3 comments)

online marketing services for realtors: Nancy Golliday places 4th in National BBQ Festival - 11/07/10 01:49 AM
Yesterday in Waycross GA the National BBQ Festival held there 9th annual Smokin in the Swamp BBQ Competition.  Time restrictions did not allow us to enter the BBQ portion of the festival so we decided to enter the Apple Pie Competition because we only had to make a pie and drop it off and wait for the results.
Nancy's apple pie recipe is in its third generation of existence.  Very little has changed over the years and the pie is pretty much the same.  So we decided it would be fun to enter this pie and see what happens.  Nancy was up … (3 comments)

online marketing services for realtors: A reminder of the power of ActiveRain! - 10/17/10 09:38 PM
This morning I was re-blogging a couple of very good blog posts my lovely wife Nancy had recently done.  One of the posts was about a very inexpensive alternative to Photoshop.  I had no sooner posted the blog when my Google alerts, alerted me that there was an alert for FirstCoastDesigns.com.  This is of course Nancy's web design site,  It took literally only 2 minutes for that post to be found.

online marketing services for realtors: Monday Morning Facts You Do Not Need - 10/17/10 09:15 PM
A shrimp's heart is in its head.    The "sixth sick sheik's sixth sheep's sick" is said to be the toughesttongue twister in the English language.
Rats multiply so quickly that in 18 months, two rats could have over a million descendants.  Wearing headphones for just an hour will increase the bacteria in your ear by 700 times.   In every episode of Seinfeld there is a Superman somewhere.    A duck's quack doesn't echo, and no one knows why.  Most lipstick contains fish scales. Like fingerprints, everyone's tongue print is different.  If you sneeze too hard, you can fracture a rib. If you try to suppress a sneeze, you can … (5 comments)

online marketing services for realtors: Google Employees are Now Spying on Your Kids! - 09/15/10 01:01 AM
It was reported yesterday that Google employee David Barksdale, a 27-year-old former  engineer used his position at Google to spy on several teenager's Google Email, Chat and Voice accounts.  It seems he met these kids in a technology chat room and befriended them only to later spy on them.    Though it is being reported that this was not of a sexually nature it was still against the law and Google policy.
It has always been my contention that any company that maintains large amounts of personal information on people should be subject to some kind of government oversight.  Google is no … (6 comments)

online marketing services for realtors: The Husband Store! - 09/12/10 11:17 PM

Husband Store

A store that sells new husbands has opened in New York City , where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:
" You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!"
So, a woman goes to … (6 comments)

online marketing services for realtors: Google Instant! Google Hype? - 09/12/10 03:25 AM

Google has always been a very quirky company and their sense of humor shows through in much of their advertising.  Google Instant is really no exception.  When Google first advertised this new service they touted that people doing searches on Google would save 3 to 9 seconds per search.  This would then translate into months of saved time in a life time that could be used for something else.  Funny stuff huh?
What happens when you do a search is that as you type the most popular suggestions will show up.  Of course as you type this will change in … (10 comments)

online marketing services for realtors: Can Twitter Really Sell Homes? Maybe Yes and Maybe No! - 08/24/10 01:03 AM
Since people are emailing me this question so I thought it would be easier to just blog about it.
I have two Broker clients that are Twitter fanatics.  They both have developed a way to use Twitter that has allowed them to put homes under contract that they might not have other wise.  Both clients use Twitter in a similar fashion to tweet about available homes in their area that have just come up on the market.  Let me explain further.
Both use lists of followers that are very targeted lists.  They only allow followers (or at least try to only allow … (5 comments)

online marketing services for realtors: Twitter Twatter - 08/23/10 03:12 PM
Like many of you I tend to use Twitter when I have a few milliseconds to kill.   I try to do relevant SEO type tweets and I also announce my latest Blog entries; which have been few and far between lately.  I follow less people than I use to only because I find that most people I followed were not really worth following.  The Tweets they were sending were less relevant than my dog scratching himself or watching the ice cubes melt in my glass while sitting next to my pool.  When did Twitter seem to become less relevant?
That … (7 comments)

online marketing services for realtors: Should Short Sale Predators be Licensed? - 06/01/10 09:16 AM
We see these signs or signs like it all over town.  We know people who have gotten the letters in the mail that make all kinds of promises.  The kind of promises that a desperate person in foreclosure wants to hear.  People who are behind on their mortgage payments looking for some kind of miracle to save their homes.
I know as Realtors you are required by law to follow a certain set of ethical and legal practices or face stiff penalties.   These laws were of course enacted to protect the consumer on the single greatest purchase they will ever make.  … (17 comments)
