point2 web design: Do SEO Firms and Web Designers make good Bed-Fellows? - 11/04/08 04:37 AM
I recently received a Twitter from my old friend Jim asking me why his SEO guys will not ever talk to his Web Designers.  Now before you laugh you have to understand my friend Jim and Twitter.  Yes I know the name Twitter sounds kind of funny but it is certainly easy to remember.  And before you jokers out there start making comments about my friend giving me a Twitter it has nothing to do with a "Purple Nerple".  Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co-workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: … (8 comments)

point2 web design: Will the Economy Redefine your Market Plan? - 11/04/08 04:22 AM
I think most people would agree that in tough economic times your marketing plan is even more important.  Your plan is the marketing outline your business should follow and grow with, even in tough times.  You may have to redefine your plan to the current economic climate but you should still follow your plan.
Your plan will help you decide where you money should go.  It will help you decide if you need to spend more or perhaps pull back a bit.  What ever the case it will help lead you and keep you on target to meeting any goals you have established for … (2 comments)

point2 web design: Google and your scanned douments - 11/04/08 03:34 AM
For those of you who have not heard yet, Google can now read your scanned documents.   This is pretty huge and adds another dimension to your SEO.  If you put scanned documents on your website you are going to want to make sure you practice some good SEO with those documents.
Google has been reading Adobe pdf files for sometime and even offers the ability to see them in HTML format.  This is great for people who do not have a pdf reader on their pc. But common, this reader is free.  When you scan a document you are basically taking … (4 comments)

point2 web design: How to make your Website Analytics Fun! - 10/20/08 10:19 PM
Website analytics can be confusing and darn right boring.  But recently I worked with a client to make their website analytics more exciting and darn right fun to boot.  The client asked if I had ever heard of VisitorVille and of course I had.  He wanted it installed on his site and recently bought a year subscription.  I could hardly wait because VisitorVille is so new I know of only one other person using it.
If you are a huge fan of SimCity then VisitorVille is right up your sim.  VisitorVille is an online interactive community based upon your website.  Here … (5 comments)

point2 web design: ActiveRain and the speed of BOT - 10/20/08 05:41 AM
I for one am always amazed how fast some website get crawled by the search engine bots.  I use Google Alerts to notify of many different words and phrase, including my name.  I posted a new Blog last night and the time stamp between here and my email was only 50 minutes.  That is very fast and many of my Blogs on ActiveRain have been indexed in less than 90 minutes.  Just goes to show you how popular Activerain is and how many links there are here.

point2 web design: Dirty Little Secrets Update - 10/20/08 03:15 AM
Check out this article about the AT&T secret backroom.  Very interesting.
http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2008/10/telecom-spying.html
This secret room was brought up in an AT&T shareholders meeting.  Though it was first denied by the Board of Directors they did admit that there is a certain amount of cooperation between the U.S. Government and AT&T which is dictated by law.

point2 web design: Dirty Little Secrets! Part 2 - 10/19/08 11:29 AM
In May of 2007 a new law went into effect that allows Local, State and Federal Agencies to "wiretap" into any ISP that provides "voice transmission" or "broadband services".  These ISP's are required to have their equipment ready so these Governmental bodies can have immediate accessibility to their networks.  So companies like Vonage, Comcast or Skype are covered under the same type of laws as the Phone Companies have been since the 1960's.
Since late 2001 the U.S. Government has had the ability to tap directly into the Internet to see everything that is transmitted.  There are not enough people or … (6 comments)

point2 web design: Is Outsourcing your SEO a good idea? - 09/21/08 10:24 AM
I received a phone call last night from a desperate and potential client who was beside himself about his SEO. In order to save a few bucks, he hired an SEO firm from India. It seems that SEO firm from India did more than redefine the SEO experience...they redefined the English language as well. He had read in my last Blog how SEO services for Real Estate Agents do not need to cost $5000 or more a month to be done properly. His case was just the opposite.
To save a few bucks on his marketing, he decided to search out … (6 comments)

point2 web design: POINT2 SEO does not have to cost thousands to be effective! - 09/19/08 06:22 AM
I recently received some email from a couple of "SEO Gurus" who took offense to a blog I recently did about the cost of SEO.  Now I am not sure who declared these gentlemen SEO Gurus but I know it was not me.  The problems they have with me are the statements I made about the cost of SEO.
There seems to be a misconception that SEO firms must charge thousands of dollars a month for SEO to effective.  Now for a company like Coke or Ford it would be more like hundreds of thousand if not millions a year for … (6 comments)

point2 web design: How much should SEO cost? Part 3 - 09/17/08 04:46 AM
So by now you should have talked to your Broker and a few more experienced Real Estate Agents and have a good idea of how they came up with their marketing budget.  You should have been able to figure out how much you can budget each month and where each dollar is going.  Now comes the easy part or is it the hard part, either way you have to do the next step.
You need to talk to some SEO companies and choose the one that will work best for you.  Do not know much about SEO you say?  No problem … (2 comments)
