seo redefined: Health Message - 01/15/12 12:28 AM
As I was lying in bed pondering the problems of the world, I rapidly realized that I don't really give a rat's ass. It's the tortoise life for me! 1. If walking/cycling is good for your health, the postman would be immortal. 2. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water, and is fat. 3. A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years. 4. A tortoise doesn't run and does nothing, yet it lives for 450 years. And you tell me to exercise?? I don't think so. I'm retired. Go around me! … (3 comments)

Mayonnaise Jar & Two Beers...

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.

When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar was full.

They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of … (3 comments)

seo redefined: Should Short Sale Predators be Licensed? - 06/01/10 09:16 AM
We see these signs or signs like it all over town.  We know people who have gotten the letters in the mail that make all kinds of promises.  The kind of promises that a desperate person in foreclosure wants to hear.  People who are behind on their mortgage payments looking for some kind of miracle to save their homes.
I know as Realtors you are required by law to follow a certain set of ethical and legal practices or face stiff penalties.   These laws were of course enacted to protect the consumer on the single greatest purchase they will ever make.  … (17 comments)

seo redefined: SEO Lessons Learned 3 - 05/17/10 01:31 AM
So you fired your SEO Company and you are glad to be rid of them.  But are they really gone?  You told them several times over the phone and via email that you were done with them and were not going to be retaining their services any longer.  So why does it feel like they are still lurking around?  Because they probably are and you just do not know it!
Most of the time when people fire SEO firms they do not realize that the SEO firm is still there and benefiting from their previous relationship.  How could this be because … (4 comments)

seo redefined: SEO Lessons Learned - 05/17/10 12:29 AM
Recently we were fortunate enough to sign up a client who has several offices and about 100 agents working for him.   He had been very unhappy with his SEO company and was looking for a change.  It seems that he signed a one year contract and was made all kinds of promises.  Over the course of a few months it became very clear to him that he had made a very big mistake.
First off the only work the SEO company did was to add a very bulky form to his sites.  He was promised that every page of his site … (4 comments)

seo redefined: My Response to Social Media being a SinkHole! - 04/11/10 05:30 PM
Recently I wrote an article about the importance of Social Media within a good SEO program.  There have been several articles written recently by an SEO competitor of mine who described Social Media as a "SINKHOLE" . There have even been several articles on ActiveRain written about this very topic.  Several weeks ago I joined BrokerAgentSocial.com and have written my short but to the point response to this statement.  I hope you will go over there and read it when you get a chance.

seo redefined: Guaranteed Leads or Guaranteed Hype! - 04/05/10 01:07 PM
Most agents have received those phone calls where the person on the other side of the phone is trying to sell you a Lead Generating Website.  Sure they sound very sincere and the thought of having more leads than you can handle is so tempting.  But can you trust what they are saying?
Many of these companies will make you all kinds of promises about leads.  You will hear everything from you can expect a lead a day, to you will get 100 or more Guaranteed Real Leads in a year.  Wow, what are you to believe here?  These Guaranteed Real … (5 comments)

seo redefined: Survey of people who have used Lead Generating Websites. - 03/31/10 01:08 PM
Recently we partnered with a Internet Survey Company to survey Real Estate Agents on whether they have ever used a Lead Generating Website.  The ones who have used a Lead Generating Website were asked a series of questions about the site they currently have or have used.  So far the early results are not surprising to us at all.
We setup pretty easy to follow parameters  for our survey.  The Lead Generating Website has to be a site that was setup by the SEO Company and run by them.  The Agent was not to have any ability to change their site. The site had to … (3 comments)

seo redefined: A New Social Media ERA Has Just Begun. Lookout Google Here Comes Facebook! - 03/28/10 03:07 PM
There is been a lot of discussion lately about the benefits of Social Media and whether it really does any good.  I think most Realtors understand that Social Media is more about BRANDING than anything else. Sure sooner or later you will sell homes directly because of your Facebook page.  There is no question of it. The real question is when and why.
Facebook's visitor traffic has been steadily climbing for the last year.  Google's traffic has remained relatively flat for the same amount of time.  In the last 4 months Facebook has beaten Google 4 times in the weekly traffic … (7 comments)

seo redefined: Nancy Golliday is Now an Exclusion! This is a Must Read! - 03/19/10 07:31 AM
I had to write about this because I know so many of you will find this to be very funny.  Recently it came to our attention that Compass Internet Systems/Blackwater and Mike Parker executed a new contract for a product they sell called Compass Search.  In this contract that have several exclusions that will void their guarantee.
Some of the exclusions include certain website platforms that Compass will not use for various reasons.  None of these reasons are given in the contract.  But my favorite exclusion is the one most recently added.  The new addition says that anyone who uses Nancy … (4 comments)

seo redefined: Stay Focused on What is Really Important! - 03/09/10 11:03 PM
So much is written about SEO, Social Media, Long Tail Phrases, Content is King, Blogging, Tweeting, Fan Pages, FaceBook, MySpace and Keywords.....(I could go on forever here...)that I think many people lose focus on what exactly they are suppose to be doing online.
There are lots of opinions on how SEO should be done and what should be included when you do your SEO.  There are lots of SEO companies out there telling you how great there latest lead generating program is or how they guarantee they will put you on page one of Google.  There are SEO Experts who make … (3 comments)

seo redefined: The Benefits of a Home Warranty, From a Buyers Perspective! - 03/09/10 02:24 PM
I do not make many comments on AR that are not SEO or comical in nature, however I wanted to comment about Home Warranties.  We bought out house last year and got talked into a Home Warranty by the Realtor.  I was very skeptical at first because I figured it was a big waste of money.  I finally relented and Nancy and I bought a policy for a few hundred dollars.  Let me tell you what we have had to fix in the last 10 months that was covered by the warranty and only cost me a tiny deductible.

seo redefined: Should You Blog for Buyers? - 02/21/10 01:29 PM
This was a question posed to me a few weeks at a SEO talk I was giving for a Broker friend of mine.  A new agent wanted to know what she needed to do to Blog for buyers?  She was very confused and had only recently become a new Agent. She was not sure what to Blog about that would get buyers interested in doing business with her.  Here are some of the ideas I shared with her and I hope you will find them as useful as she did.

1.  ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS blog about listings. This is of … (9 comments)

seo redefined: Proposed Coast Guard cuts put Camden County on the defensive - 02/14/10 12:35 PM
By Susan Respess Published: Wednesday, February 10, 2010 9:36 AM EST Camden County leaders are battling a proposed U.S. Coast Guard budget cut that would take a maritime Homeland Security team away from Kings Bay.Giving up the 85-member Maritime Safety and Security Team (MSST) would be painful to the county, already suffering from high unemployment that's persisted since the closing of its major employer, Durango-Georgia Paper Co., and scores of residential and commercial-building foreclosures and business closings. Local leaders estimate the loss of the Coast Guard team at an annual economic impact of $8.5 million."We are all shocked by it; we did … (0 comments)

seo redefined: Residents optimistic about Cumberland Harbour's future - 02/13/10 10:53 PM
Sad that this type of situation is all too common in this current economy!
ST. MARYS, Ga. - Most of the 1,081 lots have been purchased at Cumberland Harbour, an upscale residential community in St. Marys. While some who purchased vacant lots at $60,000 to $1 million were speculators hoping to turn a quick profit, many others planned to build homes and live there. Then the economy tanked after only 41 homes were built at the development, including the 2004 Home & Garden Dream Home.
While many property owners are waiting for the economy to improve before building, Carole Troia is … (0 comments)

seo redefined: Google wants a piece of Facebook! - 02/09/10 05:14 AM
Google is expected to announce this week that they are looking for a piece of the Facebook pie.  No longer happy with the Search Engine or Cellphone business Google is now looking at adding Facebook type features to it's Gmail platform.
Since Facebook is currently adding a "Messenger" type service to its platform Google is looking to counter that move.  Google already allows its' Gmail users to leave short "status updates" much like Twitter and Facebook.  Google is planning on allowing these messages to aggregate, which will create a stream of notifications.
Since Gmail currently has over 150,000,000 users it will … (6 comments)
