bloggers: I've Been Down the Rabbit Hole First Thing This Morning - 06/20/17 05:03 AM
When I first got my real estate license it came as a complete surprise that the profession of real estate is actually stepping from one rabbit hole into another and another and another.  I've gotten used to the rabbit holes and have even learned to appreciate them since they absolutely keep my way of making a living from becoming boring.  I'm glad though that my mother made sure we were literate children because it occurs to me that if I'd never read Watership Down, I'd have no clue what the meaning of the term "rabbit hole" even means!

Today's early morning rabbit hole has … (31 comments)

bloggers: Easy Directions to Insert Clip Art...Inspired by Pat Kennedy - 11/25/12 05:39 AM
Pat Kennedy inspired this post by talking about the importance of adding clip art to your articles in her Primping Your Post article.  Our eyes are restless and are always looking for something to light on...indulge the eyes of your readers, keep them engaged.  I thought I'd build upon Pat's post and give a few tips on how to insert your clip art.   First, you want to write your post and we should all know how to do that.           I've been collecting clip art since I first started participating in ActiveRain and I add … (10 comments)

bloggers: I Didn't Even Know What They Were!...Now I'm in the Top 15 in NC ! - 11/01/12 10:41 PM
When I started with ActiveRain in February 2011, just getting to 100,000 seemed like an insurmountable goal. In fact, I didn’t even know what “points” were. I just figured out that the more I participated in the ActiveRain blogging community the more points I got. Boom...here I am now at 400,000!
For all those newbies out there…every member has a different idea of what the points mean to them. Since this is my blog though…here’s what they mean to me.
Points mean commitment and achievement…a yardstick of some sort. A way to measure what I’ve accomplished over a given period … (21 comments)

bloggers: The Four Letter Word That Has My Mother So Upset! - 08/20/12 10:24 PM
My parents raised four children, all born within a 5 year span. So at any given time, that’s a lot of diapers, baths, school lunches, parent-teacher conferences, pre-teen and teenage angst…not to mention current adult issues and challenges. I even remember all four of us having chicken pox at the same time. In my entire life though, no matter what was going on in her life I’ve never heard my mother utter a single cuss word. It’s a miracle that I learned any at all since she was no help in that regard.
Anyway, my mother emailed the other day … (15 comments)

bloggers: Reblogging! - And just exactly who are you? (We Really Want to Know) - 08/25/11 05:30 PM
When I read Russel's title I was hoping I'd see something of the Who and as usual, Russel's post did not disappoint.
This is sort of what he's talking about.  When we all cruise about the AR site looking for cool things to read, there are some days that its downright discouraging.  I think that maybe people aren't used to showing anyone the "real" them.  We all tend to hide behind cell phones, tweets (no tweets for me), facebook....or faceless book, anything to keep from being up close and personal.
We're in a personal business and AR is the ideal way to … (6 comments)

bloggers: It's ActiveRaining PenPals!!! - 03/27/11 01:03 AM
Why this photo with a title about pen pals? Simple. This is a picture of my grandmother, Frances Tierney in 1934 in Detroit. She used to recognize and comment on anything she knew I had put effort into. My three brothers and I knew we'd done something right when Grandma mentioned it.
When I opened my email this morning and saw 17 comments on a blog I'd written this morning at 12:30 about achieving my first 10,000 points - I got that same feeling.
Do you remember having "pen pals" when you were kids? The effort of actually putting pencil to paper … (15 comments)

bloggers: 10,000+ Points and Moving Forward - 03/26/11 05:59 PM
The time is midnight:37, it is absolutely pouring outside, I showed houses until 730pm and have played off and on ActiveRain for an hour or so.
I've just gone past 10,000 points and it seems to have happened pretty quickly.  This has been a great learning experience, but it is pretty clear that this is just the beginning.  I guess this week will be the commitment week to try out the Rainmaker trial run.  If it helps me learn to be half as creative as some of the bloggers I've been following, I'll be delighted.
This week has been social mania … (23 comments)
