monika mcgillicuddy: It's Been a long time - 01/13/16 11:41 PM

Its been a very long time since I have been on AR and thanks to some recent comments on one of my old video posts I thought I better come and update this blog.
Of course that means learning how to naviagte the site, which hopefully won't take me too long to figure out.
Life has continued for the McGillicuddy's both Jay and I have been very busy working in real estate and enjoying every moment we can.  Life is way too short to do otherwise. Of course, like everyone else we bought lottery tickets and for a brief few hours enjoyed fantisizing … (9 comments)

monika mcgillicuddy: Tech Savvy Agents | Does it matter to you - 02/19/12 11:57 PM
Selling your Southern NH or Seacoast area home
How can a tech savvy agent make a difference in the marketing of your Southern NH or Seacoast area home?  The real estate market has undergone some major changes and with it so has how consumers find real estate and how they engage with REALTORS. Information and videos about the community and lifestyle of area they are interested in as well as homes are what they demand.  Gone are the days of grandma's (full disclosure, I am a grandma) real estate market and just pounding a sign in the ground and a lock … (2 comments)

monika mcgillicuddy: Fatal Mistakes Agents Make on Social Media - Listening to the SEO Expert - 02/07/12 12:54 AM
Don't Listen To The SEO Expert
It's simple... the SEO Expert you hired is most likely not a licensed real estate agent and in reality has no clue to the licensing regulations, the Code of Ethics, Fair Housing, Steering and other regulations that govern the behavior of real estate professionals.
Listening to that SEO expert without taking into consideration the rules and regulations that as licensed real estate professionals we have to abide by and of course  we know that Article 12 to the NAR Code of Ethics applies to ALL REALTORS no matter what state they live in and while … (9 comments)

monika mcgillicuddy: A New Hampshire Seacoast | Ocean - Sand and Snow - 01/21/12 08:26 AM
Woke up this morning to snow falling, that's two days in a row for us!  We probably only got about 2 inches in total but that is enough to make the roads messy and treacherous when drivers are being stupid. So far we've had a fairly mild winter with hardly any snow fall but these last two days have made everything nice and white. Yesterday, on my way to work I took a slight detour and rode out to the beach.  I wanted to shoot a few videos of Hampton Beach covered with snow and it was so pretty albeit very … (4 comments)

monika mcgillicuddy: Walking along Seabrook Beach NH - 01/13/12 01:49 PM
On New Years Day Jay and I took a ride along the coast, which is a tradition of ours. We visit the beach every New Years Day and this one was no exception.
The day was crisp but sunny with hardly a cloud in the sky.  We parked the car over on Rte 1A near the harbor and waked under the Hampton Bridge out to the ocean side of the beach.  I love walking along Seabrook Beach especially when the tide is low.  I love the smell of the salt in the air and watching the Seagulls fly around. The surf … (5 comments)

monika mcgillicuddy: Southport Island Maine- Sunrise - 01/12/12 08:43 AM
Southport Island Maine I took this video with my cell phone back in July of 2011. I'm a sleepy head and don't often rise in time to see the sun rising but when I do it's always special. Jay and I were camping and had guests with us who were sleeping in the front of the motor home when I caught this outside my camper window. We were camping at Gray Homestead in Southport Island Maine which is a small island off of BoothBay Harbor. Isn't it beautiful? This video was recorded in July 2011 via my Droid Thunderbolt and even … (2 comments)

monika mcgillicuddy: Seabrook New Hampshire A Hidden Gem - 01/03/12 12:32 PM
Seabrook Beach A Hidden Gem I love stopping by Seabrrok beach on my way home from the office. I  love how pretty the beach is and could just walk there for hours at low tide. I love walking under the Hampton Bridge and walking along the "ocean" side of the beach.
Seabrook New Hampshire borders the state of Massachusetts and is the start of our awesome 18 miles of New Hampshire coastline. Seabrook Beach is one of New Hampshire’s true gems and one that not many people know about. It has two miles of spectacular white sandy shoreline and a … (2 comments)

monika mcgillicuddy: Happy 2012 - 01/02/12 07:00 AM
How lucky are we that we live in a free nation, a beautiful country called the United States of America and that all of us have places in our own little piece of this world that area special to us. Places where we can think, find peace and just plain enjoy. This little spot along the side of the road in Rye New Hampshire is such a place for me.
Happy New Year and may 2012 bring you all good health, peace, happiness and prosperity!

monika mcgillicuddy: Exploring Vermont - 10/10/08 07:49 AM
On Tuesday I was in Rutland Vermont where I taught the Vermont Association of REALTORS full day Professional Standards workshop. The class offered seven hours of continuing education credit which 120 REALTORS took advantage of. Most of these REALTORS serve on the Professional Standards and Grievance committees and Board of Directors for various local boards. It was a great class!
Vermont is a beautiful state and I was lucky enough that my hubby Jay was able to go with me so that we could enjoy a leisurely ride home the next day. The foliage was awesome and the whole state is … (5 comments)

monika mcgillicuddy: Prudential Verani Web stats - 10/09/08 06:05 AM
Our internet web stats for the month of September 2007 vs September of 2008 is a clear indication that the housing slowdown is real. Interestingly, while looking at the broker showings on our listings it shows me that showing are way up compared to the same time frame last year. Also, our Featured Home page on the front page of our site is featuring our listings at a much higher rate than this time last year. Unique visitors are down a little but having over 20,000 unique visitors is not bad. A unique visitor is a visitor whose computer IP address … (4 comments)

monika mcgillicuddy: The biggest obstacle to climbing the Active Rain ladder to success - 05/05/08 05:46 PM
The biggest obstacle to climbing the ladder to success is weeding your way through the crowd at the bottom. I'm sure you've all heard that before but it is so very true.
Climbing the ladder to Active Rain success is not all that different and it is not hard once you push your way through that crowd hanging around on that first step.
In NH we currently have 513 members with only about 100 of them having posted a blog or two. The rest... the crowd at the bottom have done nothing but perhaps put up a profile. Some haven't even up … (126 comments)

monika mcgillicuddy: Mom and Dad vote for the first time.. - 01/08/08 11:17 AM
My mom and dad voted in their first primary! I am so proud of them! Mom and dad became citizens on January 18 2006. They both studied hard, really trying to learn and understand the history of our great country. I was full of pride watching them study... seeing how much they tried and how seriously they took it.
Then the day came for them to take the "test" and the long wait...long wait for the test results.
They passed, both of them and they were sworn in by US District Chief Judge Steven McAuliffe (husband of Christa our NH teacher in … (36 comments)

monika mcgillicuddy: Hampstead NH has a New Bean in Town!! - 12/07/07 01:43 AM
There’s a new Bean in town… and everybody’s talking about the new Bean in town.
So I decided to go visit the new bean in town called Bean Towne.
To say it is a coffees shop like none other which Hampstead and surrounding communities has seen before is an understatement.
Admittedly, I have always considered myself a coffee snob…but truly I had no idea.
For months I’ve been reading the cute little signs on Rte. 111 with clever sayings like “Friends don’t let friends dunk” and I’d always chuckle and think there’s a coffee war going on.
 I mean for years … (17 comments)
