montana: HIKING AND HORN HUNTING - 06/21/09 04:09 AM
An activity that does not harm animals and is great excercise is HORN HUNTING in the high Mountain in Northwest Montana!  Here are some photo of a recent hiking and camping expedition that returned some great results!
These guys were going for the big boys!  ELK HORNS ---and they found them.  The effort that goes into this isexhausting but what we will not do for fun! I think it has to do with loving to hike and camp!

Well- If this i not the top of the world-- YES-- you can see it from here!
And to put this huge hike into perspective -here are a few other shot! These were taken for the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness Area West of Libby, Montana.  This is some great real estate--- difficult to get to -but so enjoyable to look at!  Top of Twin Peaks. High Alpine lakes are great fishing BUT this is one that would require mountain goat footing to get into to!

Here is the reason I am so happy today!  You know I love the 4 seasons that we have here in Montana-- this photo was taken in February-Libby ,Mt
- BRRRRR pretty , very white, fluffy and fun..but this photo was taken TODAY!  The natural wonders of weather--  different worlds both beautiful in their own right. It may get up to 89 degrees but usually cools off about 35 degrees by night fall. So the evenings are always crisp at around 48 - 50 degrees . montana: What's in the tree? - 05/19/09 12:07 AM
When looking out side Saturday morning and having coffee my husband noticed SOMETHING in the top of the trees ! Bald eagles often land there but we need to get the binoculars out to see what was going on.It is the small black dot in the center of the photo- I will include a few shots.

NOW as we zoom in it becomes clearer00 It is a black bear -which was difficult to zoom in enough with the camera!

Well- this rainy spring day brought back the Grosbeaks to our bird feeders in NW Montana. They are so colorful and fill the deck and skies with bright yellow, black and white.  AND While their beaks are large conical shaped -- they are certainly not GROSS!  While just 2 visited us today- last year we were up to 14 (must have been after the babies were born) So I will just sip my cup of tea and start the day with a natural high!

NORTHWEST Montana can boast some record mule deer! This however is not one of them --- YET!
On our way up to a wonderful deep cold water lake- we spotted this baby. My husband being a quick husband jumped out and took this little guys photo as he ran away- he just stopped and turned for this great pose! THIS MOUNTAIN LOOKS LIKE IT FLOATS ABOVE THE WORLD! But we know that there is a trail into the wilderness that allows access to this magnificent mountain.

i know that I would love to on Crystal Lake about 45 miles from Libby Montana TODAY! There are several listing out that direction on this, Middle Thompson and other CHAIN OF LAKES in the area. Kalispell  Montana is about 45 miles south of here. Acces is from US Highway 2 south. This lake is enjoyed by summer loving folks with boats and canoes, for fishing fun, or paddling around. What a River! I thought that I would share some relaxing photos of the river here in north western Montana.The Kootenai River originates in Canada and flows into the US in NW corner of Montana then loops through asmall area of Idaho and goes back North to Canada to end up in the Kootenai Lakes. Sometimes know as the headwaters of the Columbia River.

Just when we thought it was safe to take off the snow tires!  Sure it snowed a bunch today- but I know that by about March 10th the snow will be meling and spring will starting springing up around us.
That is really good to know- we tend to be seasonal up here in NW Montan. That is why Now is the time own your
own land or home on one of Northwest Montana's wonderful rivers.
Here the water can be so clear you see the rocks at the bottom of river bed as the water flows

Think about it and it makes alot of sense.
