alpine lakes realty nh: What's Brown and on the Ground? Foliage after first frost - 10/14/16 12:45 AM
New England has dodged a few close calls so far this season... the Hurricanes missed the North East, and despite the lack of rain we still managed to have a vibrant fall foliage season.
But today was the first frost on the higher peaks, and that means the end of foliage season is near.
Every Season I take photos of this heart shaped tree...so I know when the colors have hit there Peak. Sad to say this beautiful tree will be sticks and stems shortly (route 112, Lincoln NH)
Since this is a real estate Blog...I'll tie in a few of the properties we … (9 comments)

alpine lakes realty nh: Mountain views sell homes in New Hampshire. - 10/12/14 12:20 AM
Hello Captain obvious here..!
Seriously - this years sales illustrate the point so well, I wanted to detail the four towns closest to the Loon Mountain ski resort. The highest selling prices on homes in these towns didn't set any new records...but they prove the theory. A great view sells...and in my opinion, the buyers that find these homes are happy to buy even with a few flaws..because hey  - they got that view.
...Case in point Closed Friday October 10th 2014.

I Love New Hampshireso here are a few of my favorite shots from in and around my state...LIVE FREE OR DIE.. NH's Motto

alpine lakes realty nh: Loon Mountain Leap day - 02/29/12 06:28 AM
If you were given an extra day this year to do anything you wanted to do what would it be?

These pictures will give you some idea of what I did today...or at least  in the time before my first real estate appointment that was scheduled at 1pm. I hit the slopes on this extra day of February - it helps that my Real estate office is one mile from the base lodge at Loon mountain in Lincoln New Hampshire.

The North peak chair offers a wonderful view of Mount Washington off in the distance some 50 miles away.

alpine lakes realty nh: Funny story -&- Advice for New Hampshire Property sellers...be a squeaky wheel. - 01/31/12 04:47 AM

The squeaky wheel gets the grease; the quiet ones get no attention at all.

While rummaging through my basement I came across a box of stuff that hadn’t been unpacked since moving to the “new” house seven years ago. I found a shoe repair ticket that was nine years old. Figuring that I had nothing to lose. I went to the shop and presented the ticket to the proprietor. He reluctantly began a search for the unclaimed shoes. After ten minutes, the shop owner reappeared and handed me back the ticket. “Well” I asked, “did you find the shoes?” … (7 comments)

alpine lakes realty nh: Silent Sunday, Sunny Sky's & Snowy river scenes -Photos from New Hampshire - 03/27/11 09:20 AM
Spectacular Blue sky's on a Sunny Sunday afternoon Stroll.

Still some snow and frozen patches of ice on the Pemigewasset River - Woodstock NH

You can almost feel how cold this water must be, Johnson Brook flows into the Pemigewasset River, it's hard to believe the local kids will be swimming here in a couple of months (today 22 degrees and 0 with wind chill).

Dozens of 40 foot long trees with bare-root balls were dragged down the river, left resting on the rocks. This river is not only beautiful but it is also incredibly powerful as … (19 comments)

alpine lakes realty nh: Post and Beam Adirondack style homes White mountains of New Hampshire - 10/23/10 06:39 AM
A complete post and beam house can easily add 30% to the cost of construction, and all though it looks great there are simply some rooms in a house that wouldn't benefit from the effort or the expense. Case in Point we advise clients of all their options and initially many say they don't wish to spare any expense. After all this is what has brought them to building a custom post and beam -Adirondack style home in the first place.

When it comes time to talk about the budget often times something has to give -or- be foregone.  Many … (19 comments)

alpine lakes realty nh: Photo Walk Woodstock NH - 10/14/10 12:46 PM
One red leaf caught in a lazy current among the dead foliage.

A quiet walk along the train tracks and the Pemigewasset river.

The rails along the river....I was 20 minutes ahead of the dinner train.

Woodpeckers have gone to town on this dead tree, I liked the contrast of the river and the yellow leaves.

Glover brook reaches the Pemi river forming this one acre island...I'll walk over when it's frozen in a few months.
