ENHANCING PUBLIC AWARENESS I want to make the public aware of what we are doing and what needs to be done. Thus, I would encourage the DWA board of directors to have all of our meetings televised on channel 17 government television. If the public is informed, together we can do more. Education and information go hand-in-hand. Our elected offices, such as Palm Springs City Council and many other commissions and boards, are televised on government cable television channel 17. This transparency helps raise awareness of issues and lets us know what our elected officials are doing in an open, publicly-elected (0 comments)

WATER QUALITY Would you drink water from the tap? The Agua Caliente Cahuilla Band of Indians is suing the DWA, believing the DWA has been negligent in protecting the quality of our water. A water quality study conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey found higher levels of contaminants in Coachella Valley aquifers compared to the rest of the State. (Desert Groundwater Dirtier Than Most, Desert Sun, Jan 14, 2013) We cannot sit idly by as the aquifer continues to be depleted and water polluted. The purpose of the DWA is to provide clean, reliable and safe water.

WATER CONSERVATION I believe we can do more with a valley-wide regional water conservation plan. Our five water agencies have unique needs throughout the valley, and so do our businesses and homeowners. The Coachella Valley Regional Water Management Group is helping to address our water and planning needs. I offer a one-stop-shop website where you can find classes, rebates and events that are close to your home: www.CoachellaValleyConservation.com Once I am elected, I would like to have unique programs for water conservation, with these questions in mind: Is city government and planning commissions working closely enough with our water agencies?
