It's 2011 & time to save you some money!!! Each year I'm amazed by how many people haven't been informed that they need to file for their homestead exemption on their primary residence. You may remember at closing that I promised to follow up with you at the beginning of the year because this exemption can save you a small fortune if you file for it (it's only for your primary residence and will renew every year..no need re-apply as long as the home remains your primary residence.)

There are a number of people who don't seem to know this … (0 comments)

The last few weeks have been eventful and historic for our country as well as the Atlanta real estate market. The Bailout is being debated on Capitol Hill, including a bill proposed by Ga. Senator Johnny Isakson that includes a $15,000 tax break to anyone who buys a house in 2009, which was unanimously approved on Wednesday.

dekalb county: Spring Market is Here! - or at least right around the corner :=) - 02/04/09 08:37 AM
I know, it's 37 degrees outside & people are questioning if they are in Atlanta or Alaska, but I promise the Spring Market is here! - well, at least it's beginning to come out of the winter slumber.
Atlanta basically has 1 month of "winter". Yes, it's "cold" by Southern standards from Thanksgiving to Valentine's Day, but you can tell Spring is here as we begin to see a dramatic increase in builders pushing to have their renovations ready, home owners calling to evaluate selling their home & asking for listing presentations, and of course an increase in inquiries from people … (0 comments)

dekalb county: Short Sales - assisting owners out of a tough situation - 01/22/09 07:02 AM
Short Sales have become a necessary step for a number of homeowners who may be encountering a number of different circumstances and need a way to get out of their current property.  Short sales can be the right option for people who have experienced a job transfer, job loss, change in family (divorce, death, or even birth), or even the "declining market" can serve as a "hardship" to allow a home owner to have their lender agree to a short sale.
Short sales are not "short", they simply mean that the amount the property is sold for is "short/less" than the … (0 comments)

dekalb county: Homestead Tax Exemptions!- Save Your $$$ - 12/30/08 04:31 AM
Anyone who has purchased a primary residence in the state of Georgia during 2008 should be applying for Homestead Exemption after Jan. 1, 2009.  It is best to get this out of the way in Jan., but you have until the end of February to truly have it completed. I personally send the packets of info to my buyer clients depending on the county they live in during January so they have ample time to apply.  Clients appreciate it when you save them money before, during, & after the purchase of their home - plus it just feels good to help … (0 comments)
