economy: $200,000,000 For California Home Buyers! What the...? - 01/08/10 04:27 AM
Governor Schwarzenegger delivered his last State of the State address to a joint session of the California State Legislature, Wednesday January 7, 2010, and took the time to propose some pretty controversial ideas for stabilizing the economy in the Golden State.Of particular interest to the Real Estate Industry is his proposal to allocate another $200,000,000 tax dollars to subsidize homebuyers with a tax credit that would provide up to $3,333 off of state taxes for each of the next three years. This program is very similar to the $100,000,000 that was given away for buyers of 10,600 new homes between March and … (10 comments)

economy: How to Prepare for Home Ownership - San Jacinto Valley, CA... - 12/16/09 05:32 PM
The new year and the second decade of the 21st century is only a few days away.  Doesn't seem that long ago that we were all panicked at the Y2K bug possibilities and the unknown of the 21st Century.  Certainly with the events of 9/11 and the wars in the Middle East, it has not been Utopia.Life does go on, and here we are near the bottom of one of the worst economic cycles this great nation has ever experienced - and we still are not clear if the real estate market in the Hemet - San Jacinto Valley, CA will … (0 comments)

economy: A New Spin - Foreclosures are Good for the Economy? Thank You NAR - 12/11/09 04:30 AM
The National Association or REALTORS® (NAR) today published in their daily email blast, called "The Daily Real Estate News" a short article with the headline "Defaults Could End UP Being a Boon".The sources of this information comes straight from The Wall Street Journal and Mark Whitehouse on 12/10/2009 which he called, The American Dream 2:  Default, Then Rent. The NAR brief rambles with a few statistics that seem to be overused these days, but concludes with an interesting quote from Christopher Thornberg of Beacon Economics which is a consulting firm that specializes in Real Estate.  Mr. Thornberg says, "It's a stealth stimulus, the … (102 comments)

Just checking my Twitter account and saw a link that really intrigued me - so I took a quick look and was very pleasantly surprised.First the link is to a library of "50 Free Ivy League Lectures on the Economy".  The opening paragraph is encouraging to a bloke like me.  After all, the closest I ever got to an Ivy League education is visiting my Aunt who happens to live in Princeton.  Check out what it says..."The economy has taken central stage in world news for the past few years due to rapidly failing markets the world over. Even with so … (6 comments)

economy: San Jacinto Market Analysis – SOLD 5/20/09 – 6/20/09 SUMMARY...Or Local Issues - 06/21/09 10:21 AM
SAN JACINTO SOLD SUMMARY - 5/202/09 - 6/20/09
In my recent post on this series, San Jacinto Market Analysis - SOLD 5/20/09 - 6/20/09 I shared insight to the overall San Jacinto real estate market by providing a brief synopsis of current market conditions by analyzing all of the 136 residential real estate homes that closed escrow between May 20th and June 20th, 2009.  As I was finishing up there was one more statistic that was glaring me the face.  I hated to admit it - heck I didn't even want to look at it, because it was so painful.  Once … (0 comments)

economy: Is our Current Economic Situation our Berlin Wall? - 09/27/08 12:49 PM
Wow, what an amazing concept. Is it possible that this great nation of ours could fall as easily as the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Block did? Certainly the former USSR never thought they would crumble into oblivion as quickly as they did, did they?
How about the Roman Empire? Everyone pretty much thought they were indestructible, didn’t they? And look what happened when they started pampering themselves and living large…that’s right they ceased to exist. And so the story goes with every other major power that history has recorded throughout the history of mankind.
So why is it that the … (5 comments)

economy: What Did Cheech and Chong Teach Us About the Current Housing Market? - 09/23/08 02:01 AM
What Did Cheech and Chong Teach Us About the Current Housing Market? Those of us old enough to remember the comedy duo of the 1970's, Cheech and Chong will no doubt remember the bit they did about dog droppings.  As I ponder the routine, I can still here it in the echoes and deep recesses of my mind. The act started with one character of authority asking the other what something is on the ground; to which the other grunted and responded that it looks like dog sh*t.  The leader then instructed the subordinate to touch, smell and ultimately taste the substance, to … (1 comments)

The Bubble is a Mythby John Occhi, Hemet REALTOR
I was surfing the net this afternoon, looking for something interesting to comment on and bring to my readers when I came across a blog entry by an Arizona REALTOR who truly believes that the bubble is nothing more than a myth fueled by personal agendas.
Well, I could go on for a while here, but instead, I thought I'd just let you read the original post and form your own opinions.
You can find out about the myth inside our heads here.

economy: Consumer confidence...Go News or ... - 01/01/07 01:32 PM
Consumer confidence...Good News or ...by John Occhi, Hemet REALTOR
The Conference Board, a private research group, announced that consumer confidence for the month of December has taken an unexpected rise, due in part to an improved job market and continued optimism about the countries economy.
The revised numbers for November, 2006 settled in at 105.3 and then rose in December to 109.  This is in contrast to what economists had expected - a decline to about 101.9 from the previously reported November figure of 102.9.
Of course "The Conference Board" doesn't want us to draw any conclusions from either the adjusted November or December … (1 comments)
