Atlanta-based fast-food giant Chick-fil-A has named Dan Cathy its new chief executive officer and chairman, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has learned.
Cathy, who has been chief operating officer, replaces his father, Truett Cathy, the chain’s founder and chairman. Truett Cathy will remain at the company as chairman emeritus.
Dan Cathy’s promotion was announced Wednesday internally to company employees, but no formal ceremony or announcement is planned at this time, a company spokesman said.
The company said Truett Cathy, 92, is in good health and that Dan Cathy’s promotion is part of a long-planned succession strategy.

georgia: North Fulton Schools SAT Scores Rank 2nd in Georgia - 10/04/13 12:16 AM
Led by schools in the North Fulton area, the Fulton County School System had the second-highest overall average in Georgia for the most recent scores of the Scholastic Aptitude Test.

The Georgia Department of Education released the figures on Thursday, and they show that Fulton students averaged an overall SAT score of 1567 systemwide, down 13 points from 1580 a year ago.

About 1,800 people came out to support the cause whose mission is to educate people and raise funds for underprivileged children in India.

georgia: Two Forsyth Councilmen Accept Bribes - 09/10/13 11:46 PM
Michael J. Moore, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, announced that two former Councilmen of the City of Forsyth, Georgia, James Edward Calloway and Desi Surtane Hansford, pled guilty in United States District Court in Macon, Georgia, to one count each of accepting bribes in connection with the performance of their official duties.  Each man faces a maximum sentence of up to ten years imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000. 
Facts stipulated in the written plea agreements of the two men show the following:
