During April 2010, 50 residential properties closed escrow. The average sale price was $232,338 and the average days on the market were 130. Fifty-two percent (or 26) of the residential properties that sold were bank owned and 12% (or 6) were short sales. Forty-two residential properties went under contract during the month with an average list price of $237,123. There are currently 448 active residential properties on the market with 57% priced under $300,000. That's right - FREE ADMISSION to Yosemite. This is National Park Week and gate fees to all National Parks are free through Sunday, April 25, 2010. This is a nationwide celebration of 392 national parks throughout the United States.
If you haven't been to Yosemite recently you should take advantage of the free admission. The waterfalls are raging right now after the recent storms and are quite impressive. Tuolumne Meadow has about 50 inches of snow right now so bring warm clothes and good waterproof footgear.

Art in the Park
The Promotion Club of Jamestown will hold the fourth annual Art in the Park on Saturday April 24th from Noon to 6 p.m. Rocca Park will be filled with many artisans and artists with their creations. Jewelry, photography, oils, acrylics, watercolor, and ceramics are some of the wares that will be displayed. There will be entertainment as well.
The historic Jamestown Jail will be open for tours from noon to 4 p.m. Stroll the sidewalks and visit the many shops featuring wine tasting, olive oil, antiques, art and clothing.

Sonora Spring Fling
The Annual Sonora Spring Festival will be held on Saturday, April 24th from 11 am to 4 pm. There will be events for the entire family and admission is FREE!
There will be numerous activities and entertainment from the Red Church to Restano Way on Washington Street in the Historic downtown district of Sonora.
Music will be provided by Black Irish Band, Driftwood Dave, Frankenstein 59 just to name a few. Wow! March went by fast. The great spring weather has me outdoors getting my garden ready for planting. Here are some fun things coming in April:
Railtown 1897 State Historic Park
Railtown in Jamestown will begin steam train operations for 2010 on Saturday and Sunday, April 3 and 4. Once under way, steam-powered excursion trains will depart on-the-hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends through October. The Columbia College Choir will hold a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Dogwood Theater to raise money for its four day music and cultural tour to Southern California. The concert will feature the Columbia College Choir, directed by John Carter, with Gail Johnson as accompanist and special guest artists Linda Carter and Liz Carter. Summerville High School in Tuolumne will present its annual "Swinging at the Ritz" celebration from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010, in the Summerville High Performing Arts Theater. New this year is reserved seating. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with refreshments and silent auction. The show starts at 7 p.m.

Are you old enough to remember the Bay City Bombers or the Kansas City Rollers? I remember watching them on television when I was growing up. There wasn't much on TV in those days but Saturday mornings, after cartoons were over, the roller derby was on. It was great entertainment for the stormy winter days when you couldn't play outside.

Entries are being sought for an event that will benefit the American Cancer Society-Relay for Life.  The event is open to all cars, motorcycles, and barbecue chefs. Awards will be presented. Entry fee is $20 by April 15th and $25 after that.
The car and motorcycle show and barbecue cook-off will take place from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. Saturday, May 1st at Tuolumne Memorial Park in Tuolumne. If you have a car or motorcycle to show off or a great barbecue recipe come on and enter.

Pam Tillis is Coming to Tuolumne County
Classic country star, Pam Tillis, will be performing in the Willow Creek Lounge at Black Oak Casino on Thursday, February 18 at 8 p.m. Admission is $20 and tickets are available at the Gift Basket store inside the casino.
The daughter of country legend Mel Tillis, Pam  made her own way in the music business, eventually becoming a contemporary country star in the '90s. Tillis has three platinum and two gold albums. Her songs have been recorded by many other artists as well, including Dolly Parton, Martina McBride and Linda Ronstadt.

Dodge Ridge Winter Sports Area in Pinecrest will host the first California Senior Winter Games scheduled for March 11-14. They are fully set up with a recent $6 million base area expansion, great terrain and experienced staff.  The event is possible through a partnership between Dodge Ridge, California Senior Games Association and the National Senior Games Association.
