Mother Lode Happenings October 17 - 18 Are you looking for something to do this weekend? If so here is a sampling of what is happening this weekend: Columbia College Jazz Series The Columbia College Jazz Series will kick off its 2009-10 season with a concert featuring singing star Barbara Morrison with the Columbia Kicks Big Band at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Sonora High Auditorium. The concert will also feature the Sonora High jazz band and proceeds will benefit the Sonora High School music program. Mother Lode Happenings October 3 - 4, 2009 Are you looking for something to do this weekend? If so here is a sampling of what is happening this weekend: 27th Fiddle and Bango Contest Music will once again fill the streets of Columbia on Saturday, October 3 beginning at 10:30 am at the gazebo in Columbia State Historic Park. More than 40 musicians are expected to compete, vying for cash prizes in six categories: fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, vocal and miscellaneous. All ages and music genres are represented.
