This is hardly new news, but it never hurts to have a reminder. A no texting while driving law is now in effect in the Florida Keys. US Highway 1, which runs from Key Largo to Key West, is our main road and is mostly two lanes. It is especially important that drivers not be distracted while driving on this road. 23% of all car accidents every year involve cell phone use while driving which equates to about 1.3 million crashes. … (4 comments)

The nationwide average rate for a 30-year mortgage rose very slightly last week to 4.14%, up from 4.12%. The average 15-year mortgage rate increased to 3.27% from 3.23% last week. These rates are still below what they were last year at this time. The Fed has stated that it wants to see more of an improvement in the economy before raising its key short-term interest rate.
