canada real estate market: Slowdown and recovery for Guelph housing market in 2018 - 01/31/18 12:42 PM
With a solid 2017 real estate market in Guelph, the city heads into 2018 with a respectable momentum. However, we can expect speed bumps during the first half of 2018, due to the mortgage rules implemented in January.
December was a pretty hectic month in the Guelph real estate marketAccording to the Guelph & District Association of REALTORS, there were 156 homes sold in December 2017, which is a 4.7% increase over December of 2016. There were about 3,213 units sold in 2017, which is a 6.5% decline from 2016. These changes are not exactly a bad thing, considering 2017 still had … (0 comments)

canada real estate market: Moncton, NB will see momentum into 2018 - 01/31/18 12:30 PM
At the end of 2017, we saw a nationwide increase in home sales as well as in housing inventory. Moncton, however, saw a spectacular, never-seen-before growth. If we take a look at national trends, it’s easy to see why there was such a significant increase in sales during December of 2017.
Why did we see such a substantial increase in sales during December?A much-advertised change in mortgage regulations, particularly a new stress test that buyers have to meet, caused a large number of home buyers and seller to rush into the market. According to Ralph Shaw, the president of the Ottawa Real Estate Board, “December saw an increase of 8.4% in the number of units sold in residential sales and 25% in condo sales. canada real estate market: Saskatoon's market faces declining activity for 3rd year in a row - 01/31/18 10:07 AM
The 2017 Saskatoon real estate market had a slower market overall compared to 2016 making it the third year, in a row, of sales activity declines. As a result, the average number of days a listing sat on the market in Saskatoon was 61, as of December 2017 — a substantial increase from 51 days in December of 2016. Not surprisingly, if we study Saskatoon’s market throughout 2017, we see a lower number of transactions, on a year-to-year basis.
Yet, the news isn’t totally bleak. Despite the decreased activity, there was an 11%  increase in Saskatoon’s home sales in December 2017 compared … (0 comments)

canada real estate market: Oakville-Milton market remains stable in 2018 - 01/31/18 09:50 AM
Sales in the average Canadian market increased significantly during November and December 2017 due to a rush of buyers trying to get into the market before the new mortgage rules came into effect in January 2018. But not every city experienced frenetic sales activity. According to Dennis Horton, President of The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board, “the number of sales has decreased and this could be a result of the impending mortgage changes. We look forward to seeing what the market brings leading into the new year.”
