I am a retired Greater Sacramento Realtor. My career spanned 40 years beginning in 1981, and ending in 2021. MY INTERESTS & HOBBIES: In addition to family activities, I am active in a Sacramento history group, and a local Sacramento area genealogy group. I actively research several family names. I also have a special love of cooking. For several years, I worked at an international software development company, which was represented by people from all over the globe. During that time, I was fortunate enough to learn special recipes from a number of them. They include, Indian, Caribbean, Spanish, Italian, Mexican, Romanian, Hungarian, Irish, and Carolina "Low Country" recipes. I have developed a special interest in mixing certain recipes from varying ethnic groups to create unique recipes and combinations not usually seen. Another of my favorite pastimes is gardening. And, I often find myself spending hours in my garden, and wondering where time has gone! I am interested in photography and cameras. This interest began as a child, and has remained and was perpetuated in my Real Estate career, family activities, and travel. Last but not least, I enjoy travel - both foreign and domestic.

As often as I have been in Old Sacramento, there is one place I hadn’t stepped inside of.  It is The River City Saloon on 2nd Street.  While walking by the door a few days ago, I captured the photo of this stone faced guy occupying his rightful place at the bar.  The River City Saloon is family f...

The pages of the calendar continue to fall as rapidly as the leaves of autumn.  There are two fun-filled events in Old Sacramento to help locals and visitors celebrate the season.  They are as follows:   The Sacramento Southern excursion train will provide passage for the “Spookomotive” event.  T...

On July 27th 2005, The Onion ran the headline, “War on String May Be Unwinnable, Says Cat General.”  However, my 6-month old kitten, Reuben, proclaims that is old news, and “The Battle With the Kitchen Sink Strainer is a Challenge That Must Be Met.”   Privately, Reuben has shared with me, that th...

At least once each autumn, I hope to have an opportunity to travel highway 50 east, 40 miles or so, out of Sacramento, and visit Apple Hill during harvest time. So yesterday, when my son called and asked if I wanted to take the drive, I readily accepted. Cradled in the arms of the Sierra Foothill...

I remember it was mid-summer when fellow ActiveRainer, Elizabeth Weintraub, rang me up, and said, “how’d you like to go to a Gordon Lightfoot concert?” She had managed to latch onto a pair of front row seats. However, Elizabeth’s husband, Adam, was going to be out of town. Of course I did what an...

With many doors of government being closed for business this morning, it also reminds us the crown jewels of our National Park system are also shuttered. While the nation awaits Congress to set aside dysfunction, to do the people’s business, here are a few pictures of America's natural treasure, ...
