This Labor Day weekend ushered in the seasonal opening of Apple Hill. Each year in autumn, this little community, cradled in the Sierra Nevada Foothills comes alive and provides a cornucopia of nature’s treasures for all who visit.
There are apples of course – lots of them. And, cider too!
Mingled in are pumpkins, wines, and corn mazes. And, crafters too!
Originally, Apple Hill was a collection of approximately 16 ranches or orchards. Today it boasts more than 50 ranches including Christmas tree growers, wineries, a micro-brewery, Spa, vineyards, and pumpkin patches.

While chatting with an old friend a couple weeks ago, we decided to calendar a day trip to Apple Hill. Marcia and I have known each other since 1950. Yep, that's a little over 70 years. We went all through school together beginning in the 2nd grade.
Apple Hill is a community of more than 50 farms that grow an array of apples, pumpkins and Christmas trees, in addition to there being a few wineries. Apple Hill is a community that comes alive each autumn.

With temps forcast a tad cooler beginning tomorrow, my thoughts are occupied with visions of one of my favorite autumn places.
As one drives east along highway 50, this time of year, there is a special place cradled in the arms of the Sierra Foothills which comes alive this time of year. In Fall when fruit comes into harvest, and the cider is pressed, Apple Hill provides delight for all.

It is this time of year that Apple Hill comes alive for the autumn harvest season. The community known for its collection of apple growers boasts more than 50 ranches that include Christmas tree growers, wineries, a micro-brewery, Spa, vineyards, and pumpkin patches.
Boa Vista Orchard, one of my favorite growers, is celebrating its Annual Harvest Kick-Off 2018 today and tomorrow (August 25th and 26th). They are offering freshly harvested fruit: Apples, Peaches, Asian Pears, Blackberries, Plums, and More!
