genoa nevada: A Place to Warm the Bones - 01/24/15 07:41 AM
Last Monday afternoon, I was taken out of commission by a virus.  It’s been several days of chills, night sweats, and achy bones.  While doing couch time on the way to a mend, I couldn’t help thinking about one of my favorite places, a mere 20 miles east on the other side of the Sierra Nevada range from Lake Tahoe.

genoa nevada: Eastern Slope of the Sierra Nevadas in a Dry Year - 07/30/14 12:10 PM
The scene pictured below is along the Eastern slope of the Sierra Nevadas, not far from the little town of Genoa, Nevada in beautiful Carson Valley.  The Sierras look quite different in late summer, or a dry year, than in winter when they are snow-capped or covered.
Genoa, is the oldest settlement in Nevada.  It's about 45 miles south of Reno.  David Walley's Resort and Hot Springs is located not far from where this picture was taken.

We May Be Aged – But Tenured Service We Provide

We may be aged, but the patina of our timbers provides delightful accent to the landscape.  Our tenured service continues to those acting as guardians of this land!
This scene is along Kingsbury Grade, between Lake Tahoe and Genoa Nevada.  Genoa, Nevada is the oldest settlement in the State of Nevada.
