The California Monterey Peninsula has so many wonderful delights to experience. It would certainly be difficult to choose just one as a favorite. However, for young and old, The Monterey Bay Aquarium a few blocks from Monterey’s Fisherman’s Wharf has to be among top rankers. I have visited the aquarium four times, and it never seems to get old.

It has always been the Jelly Fish which have caught my imagination. Why is it we spend a gazillion dollars to explore for alien life on distant planets, when so much of it is already here?

For those wishing to make a one tank day trip, from Sacramento, an interesting destination along the Central California coast, provides an underwater Fantasyland, not usually seen unless allowed to break surface.
My family has made several trips to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  And, even to my old jaded eyes, the wonder of all things great and small, dwelling in a watery environment creates special delight!   There are Sea Otters, Jelly Fish, Sharks, Sea Horses, Anemones, Star Fish and Bat Rays.

monterey bay aquarium: When More Isn't Always Better - 12/13/09 03:48 AM

As some of you know, last week I broke down and bought an SLR camera.  The model I settled on was the Nikon D90.  Since it came through the door a few days ago, I've been hunkered down doing hard time with the manual.  Fortunately, many of the little dials bear some semblance to the Canon dials of the last two "point and shoot" cameras I have been using.  So perhaps, this conversion to SLR won't be the hard birth I had approached with trepidation!
