shenandoah valley: Thankful for Leftovers

Those who know me well, also know I swim a lot of laps. It's no secret that I often return home, damp and famished. Waiting to prepare a meal before eating, can often seem difficult. And, I'm prone to reaching into the refrigerator and grabbing whatever is handy!
A couple of evenings ago, I had friends over for dinner. I always cook more food than necessary. And, although my kids chastise me for it, things rarely go to waste afterward. California’s Shenandoah Valley, cradled in the rolling hills of Amador County, is a restful place in our state’s Gold Country. The sleepy little 1850s settlement of Fiddletown is barely changed from earlier decades.
With the gold discovery in 1848, Amador County’s Shenandoah Valley became a key element to the California winemaking history. Vineyards and wineries sprang up almost immediately to cater to the young and single men, who had come to the area seeking their fortune. In recent years, Amador County has increasingly become known as a premier grape and wine region.

There was a little more to the story I posted a couple days ago about Fiddletown, one of California’s little Gold Rush towns. In that same vicinity of Amador County, is another delightful area, known as Shenandoah Valley. California’s Shenandoah Valley has increasingly become known as a premier grape growing wine region these past few decades.
