san diego real estate: Reasons to Buy and Sell Real Estate During the Holidays - 11/26/13 01:39 AM
The holidays bring a welcome slow down to our lives.  We take well deserved breaks and spend time with family and friends.  It is also a time to reflect on the year and focus upon success in 2014.
The slow calming effect of the holidays does not apply to real estate.  The end of the calendar year is an optimum time to sell and purchase property.  Investors want to get properties off of their books for the end of the end.  Owner occupants want to be done with the sales process and enjoy the holidays.  Buyers want to be in their … (12 comments)

san diego real estate: When is a Sprinkle not a Weather Report? - 03/18/13 02:15 PM

Please let me know if this is a unique aspect of Southern California:  the Sprinkling Party.  It is new concept for me.  Many of my friends are being blessed with their second or third children.  When they were pregnant or adopting for the first time many of them had a Baby Shower.  In my case I was pregnant with twins.  We had a long Shower.
The Sprinkling is interesting.  The assumption is that the parents already have the the expensive stuff like car seats and strollers.  The second assumption is that they have figured out what essentials are necessary such as butt … (4 comments)

san diego real estate: Off the Grid in San Diego - 01/02/13 06:10 PM

Now that we are back from the holidays -
How do you manage to take care of your clients when you are away?  Many of us are guilty of being "on vacation" while a cell phone is permanently attached to the side of our head.  That has been me.  I'm working hard not to work so hard this year forward.
When I took my family to DisneyLand in October, 2012 I noticed many people on their phones and texting instead of being engaged in the moment with their friends and family.  No judgment - just an observation.  My take away … (1 comments)

san diego real estate: The Top 10 Reasons to List Your Home FOR SALE During the Holidays - 12/22/12 02:34 PM

10. You can sell now for more money and we will provide for a delayed closing or extended occupancy until

early next year.

9. Even though your house will be on the market, you still have the option to restrict showings during the holidays.

8. January is traditionally the month for employees to begin new jobs. Since these people cannot wait until spring

to buy, you need to be on the market during the holidays to capture that market.

san diego real estate: Appraisers work for all of US. - 12/19/12 06:40 AM
Here is an interesting tip for you:  If you speak with or meet an appraiser that you have reservations about you may elect to reject them.  This must take place before they complete the appraisal.  Ideally this will take place when you speak with them on the phone.  This professional tip is courtesy of my Team Leader, Ashley Lunn.
In San Diego we have frequent issues with appraisals.  Many of our appraisals are conducted by professionals from out of the area.  Many of them are from Los Angeles.  L.A. and San Diego are vastly different markets.  In San Diego it is … (4 comments)

san diego real estate: City Walk Remodel in Downtown San Diego - 11/15/12 12:46 PM

City Walk is one of my favorite mid-rises in the Marina District of downtown San Diego.  The complex takes up an entire block.  It is between Market, State, G and Union Streets.
There are only four floors which makes it a cozy building.  Three courtyards break up the building and allow lots of natural light to filter in. There are 109 units.  The floor plans vary from 14 main plans.  The building has townhouses that face into courtyards and out to the street.  The townhouses have a brownstone vibe.
The building is in the midst of a major face lift.  Some of the … (2 comments)

san diego real estate: Our San Diego Veterans - 11/11/12 10:04 PM
Veterans.  Nothing I could write would be sufficient to acknowledge my respect and appreciation.  Today is not about furniture sales or getting a great deal on a car.  Today is about people.  People caring for each other.  Today is about people and families missing each other.  Today is about sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner this month without a loved one.
San Diego is a military town.  Military personnel are a part of our landscape.  They go along with the nice weather and the beaches.  We see them so often that it is easy to forget about the service that they provide.  Please make time today to … (0 comments)

san diego real estate: New Year New Life - 11/06/12 11:54 AM
January is the most common month for divorce to be filed.  Couples with unhappy marriages limp through the holidays together and then want to start a new life in the new year.  As we enter the holidays we are also entering the eve of the divorce season.
If someone you know or if you are personally considering a divorce please obtain legal and financial advice before starting the divorce process.  When a couple divorces they not only separate personallt they also separate financially.  The financial division includes real estate.
It is critical to partner with a Divorce Real Estate Consultant in order to navigate … (0 comments)

san diego real estate: Mailboxes, Stamps and Votes - 11/05/12 06:57 AM
Election Day.  Here it is again.  It seems like we just went through this.  I guess I'm getting old.
Election day was so exciting for me when I was younger.  The first time I voted I drove to the poll after swim practice in the morning, voted and got selected to be interviewed by the local TV station - wet hair and all.  It was a thrill.
Now I vote by the mail.  It is convenient but like many services that are convenient it is not sexy.  No one thanks you when you drop your ballot into the mailbox.  You don't … (0 comments)
