There is good news to report from Ottawa’s resale housing market in February.
Members of the Ottawa Real Estate Board sold 1,010 properties through the Multiple Listing Service in February of 2017. That’s up from 908 that were sold in February of last year, the Ottawa Real Estate Board has announced.

The higher number of units sold this year was particularly impressive given that February of 2016 had an extra day of sales possibilities because of leap year.  The sales numbers for February of 2017 were also above the five-year average for the month of February, which is 872.

ottawa real estate board: Ottawa’s Real Estate sales down slightly in January 2016 - 02/05/16 02:47 AM
Ottawa’s Real Estate sales down slightly in January, but still close to average

Winter was delayed in arriving in the Ottawa area, but the cold temperatures finally landed in January of 2016 and cooled Ottawa sales slightly for the month, as is typical for the winter, when everyone wants  to stay warm and indoors.
In good news, however, the Ottawa Real Estate Board reports that sales for the month were not far below the five-year average for January sales in Ottawa.
Sales had been higher than usual in December of 2015, perhaps partly because that month saw warmer than usual temperatures for Ottawa.

ottawa real estate board: Ottawa’s summer housing market has been slow, but hang in there - 07/17/15 02:51 AM
Hang in there: there’s reason for hope

We’re in the midst of what is usually the busy summer home-buying season, but if your home happens to be for sale in the summer of 2015, you’ve probably noticed what sellers and agents across the city have been noticing: the Ottawa summer market has been a little sluggish, with not as many showings and potential buyers as sellers would like.
If you happen to be a seller, I know this has not been easy, but there is a bright side and signs of light at the end of the tunnel. Judging from what I’ve been … (1 comments)

In my 30 years as a Realtor in the Ottawa market, I’ve worked with many buyers who are re-locating from various parts of the world and other cities in Canada. These clients are sometimes making their first visit to Ottawa and rely on my expertise to find just the right location that suits their needs here in the city.
As a longtime resident of Canada’s capital, I love introducing newcomers to the city that I have come to know so well.  With a population of more than 900,000, Ottawa is Canada’s fourth largest city (behind Toronto, Montreal and Calgary), and … (1 comments)
