homes for sale: Summer Camps in the Nyack Area
- 03/22/15 09:46 PM
Now that spring is here parents will start to think about summer and what their kids will do to fill those long summer days. You may decide to take a family vacation or you may investigate summer camps or both. There many types of camps in the Nyack area, so relax and see below for a few suggestions. There is Rockland Center for the Arts Summer Arts Day Camp which is one of my favorites. There is an Open House on Sunday April 26 from 2-5 where parents and kids can tour the grounds, meet the counselors, and ask questions.

homes for sale: Nyack School Bond Referendum Passes
- 10/29/13 11:00 PM
Well the voters have spoken, and the School Bond Referendum Bond has passed. Very powerful emotions and complicated issues made this election one where word of mouth and the internet both insured a high turnout which is always good for the democratic system. Political apathy has never been an issue in Nyack. homes for sale: Nyack Wins Benjamin Moore Contest
- 07/08/13 10:15 PM
Well it’s official – the Village of Nyack downtown is about to get a jolt of color. The announcement this past Monday that Nyack had received enough votes to win the Benjamin Moore “Main Street matters” campaign is exciting news for all of us. Merchants and residents alike are excited for work to begin. I think it’s great that the program will hire local painters to do the work, and those merchants and building owners get to choose their colors. It’s a win-win situation. Nyack was the only community in New York State and one of four in the northeast to

homes for sale: HBO Coming To Nyack
- 06/13/13 10:27 PM
It looks like Nyack will be a location for a new HBO series called “The Leftovers”. The story is based on the best-selling novel by Tom Perrotta. Interesting story where 2 percent of the population just vanishes. It reminds me of a Peter Weir film “Picnic at Hanging Rock” where a class from a girls school in Australia go on a picnic and a few of the girls just vanish-very mysterious. The casting director will be looking for townspeople to be extras for the series. Anyone interested is encouraged to audition from 4-7 at the Nyack Center this Saturday. Justin Theroux

homes for sale: Nyack Says Goodbye to Stop and Shop
- 06/01/13 06:42 AM
It is with heavy heart and a wistful sigh that I write about the loss of a local commercial establishment that we will all surely miss. Our local Stop and Shop is closing and they have already reopened a big, shiny super Stop and Shop on Rt. 303 in Orangeburg -ugh. Formerly a Grand Union and now currently our little Stop and Shop on Rt. 59 is where you are always guaranteed to meet some friend or another from Nyack, and as Larry David would say do a stop and chat and pick up something for dinner as well. I chuckle

The Village of Nyack downtown business district is in the running for a fresh coat of paint. Over 100 cities and villages are competing in Benjamin Moore’s “Main Street Matters” contest. Nancy Blaker Weber was fantastic to work with. She thoughtfully guided us through our home purchase. Everything went smoothly, which was not just by chance. Nancy carefully managed the whole experience from the first viewing to closing. We knew we were in very good hands. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to buy or sell.

homes for sale: Skateboarding in Nyack
- 03/07/13 08:29 PM
Nyack’s Village Hall was packed on Feb 28. What issue attracted so many you might ask. Well it wasn’t to complain about anything, but they were there to voice their support for a proposed skate plaza in Memorial Park. The crowd was a mélange of kids, young moms, business people, and teens. The sweet scent of Gypsy Donuts wafted through the air as the meeting proceeded. Proponents of the skate plaza say skateboarding is great exercise, and is safer than other sports such as cycling, baseball, and basketball. They also say a well- built plaza requires little maintenance, and would
