It is amazing how easy some home projects can be.  My husband and I have repairs on our own home and our rental homes.  We seem to go from one repair or improvement project to another.  The most recent DIY project was to make screens for the windows for one of our rentals.
Our rental did not have screens and the tenants wanted some.  With warm weather approaching, they wanted to open the windows and let the breeze blow through.  Sounded good to us, we didn’t have an issue with putting on screen windows.

diy: Do It Yourself (DIY) Appliance Repair - 05/17/16 10:15 AM
I’d never thought that I could repair a defective appliance – the major type like dryer or refrigerator.   However, it was amazingly easy.
A couple months ago, one of our tenants called and said that the dryer wasn’t working – the dryer turned on, but didn’t have any heat.  Ok – we visited our favorite local used appliance dealer and looked at some new used dryers. 
In talking with the owner of the store, we described the problem.  He said that the problem most likely was a fuse.  He explained how to replace the fuse.

diy: Do It Yourself vs. Hire a Contractor - 03/25/16 10:01 AM
During a recent windstorm, the fence between our property and the neighbor in the back received some damage.  The neighbor obtained a bid for repairs.  We were faced with the decision to repair the fence ourselves or hire a contractor to make the repairs.
The fence didn’t appear to be too badly damaged.  There was one fence post that was obviously broken at the ground level and would need to be replaced.  There was one other fence post that seemed loose and would need to be replaced.  There were several boards that had been blown loose and would need to be screwed … (1 comments)
