The New Hampshire housing market continues to indicate signs of a real recovery.  In October of this year, home sales continued an upward trend and the prices were up for the second month in a row. From October 2011 to October 2012, the median sales price of homes in New Hampshire increased by 11.6 percent, from $190,000 to $212,000.  Every month in 2012 there has been increase in unit sales compared to the same month in 2011. New Hampshire economic fundamentals continue to be good indicators that housing will remain a sound long-term investment in the State of New Hampshire.  
Peter Francese, Director of Demographic Forecasts for the New England Economic Partnership. points to the housing market in the past 10 years to illustrate the point that buying a home is still a good long term investment.  (See chart 1 below).  Francese points out that “a home is both a place of your own to live in and, if you take care of it, a fine long-term investment.”

Peter Francese is a widely recognized New Hampshire demographics and consumer markets expert.  
The New Hampshire Association of Realtors® asked Francese to look into his crystal ball and "predict" how the New Hampshire economy and real estate market will do in 2010.
Of course, 2009 was a challenging year for New Hampshire.  There were over 3,400 home foreclosures in 2009; only slightly less than the 3,600 in 2008.

It seems that not a day goes by that someone asks me, "Hey Joan, has the housing market in New Hampshire hit bottom yet?
I always reply "It is impossible to know when the housing market has reached the bottom until things start to go back up... If I knew the answer to THAT question, I would be making the big bucks.. like the pundits on CNN"
