I was able to make the ride although feeling a little guilty not working on a Saturday.  Below are a few photos of my final destination in Waterloo Alabama.  After passing by the many vendors selling trinkets and T-shirts of the ride I just wanted to interject a short note here about the purpose of the ride...A remembrance of those forced from their homes paying an ultimate price.  The Trail of tears is so named because of the forced removal of Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek, Seminole and Chickasaw tribes of the South to Indian … (6 comments)

The Trail of Tears ride that I participated in today traveled across northern Alabama, beginning in Bridgeport Alabama to the east and traveling west to Florence Alabama and Muscle Shoals stopping at McFarland Park.  More riders went on to Waterloo Alabama another planned stop.
It turned out to be a fairly warm day in the 90's...not my kind of riding weather...still it was nice to be a part of the ride, and to see all the bikes.  I'm waiting to hear on the news how many bikers were estimated … (13 comments)

Trail Of Tears Motorcycle Ride Through Madison County Alabama, Northern Alabama And Southern Tennessee
 Enacted in 1830 by then president Andrew Jackson as the Indian Removal Act, was the forced relocation of five Native American Indian Nations or Tribes.  The Trail of Tears now commemorates the route and lives lost through that arduous journey.  The Creek Indians of Alabama, Choctaw of Mississippi, Cherokee of North Carolina, Seminole of Florida and the Chickasaw of Northeast Mississippi were relocated to what was called at the time Indian Territory and would later be Oklahoma.  Estimates of Native Americans lives lost because of starvation, disease and … (13 comments)
