hiking: Walking and Hiking help me to focus my mind! - 01/10/20 07:41 AM
I think the thing I have done most and also most consistently over the past two years is to pull on my hiking shoes and walk. Doing that has allowed me to think! To think about work situations, personal situations but mostly to sometimes just be present, to lay aside all the situations, personal and business and just enjoy where I am.
I was looking at my photos over the holidays and realized I had so many photos from those walks, often of the same spots. A photo captures a moment, a moment when I was present enough to see something I … (46 comments)

Wilson Farm park in Tredyffrin has open air concerts set up for the summer. These are FREE to attend, and you can bring a friend, a blanket and some food and make a fun evening of it.
All concerts take place at Shire Pavilion at Wilson Farm Park in Chesterbrook and start at 7.00 pm. There is plenty of parking in the park.

hiking: Dinosaurs were here! - 03/31/19 02:00 PM
Saturday saw some beautiful Spring almost Summer weather visit our area and Valley Forge Park was abuzz with families and couples walking, running, biking and enjoying all the park has to offer.
A little while ago an article was published that somewhere in the park several dinosaur fossils from the Triassic period had been found on a path. Hiking so often as I do there I have been keeping my eyes peeled. I thought I knew where but was unable to identify any specific fossils. Till yesterday, when I saw this gentleman explaining to his friend what he was looking at, right in the … (13 comments)

hiking: Glen Onoko Falls Trail - 03/20/19 11:10 AM
There are plenty of beautiful place stro hike close to Tredyffrin Easttown, but if you are willing to drive a little further you can enjoy even more beautiful vistas and hikes. I drove up to Jim Thorpe area yesterday with a friend. The weather was just gorgeous, clear skies a cool temperatures wonderful weather for hiking. We arrived at Lehigh Gorge State Park and made our way to the head of the Glen Onoko Falls Trail. This is a steep and dangerous hike in places, and there are plenty of warning signs as you head out. Whilst not long it is … (8 comments)

hiking: Saturday walk in Tredyffrin Easttown - 02/16/19 02:09 PM
Our weather has been topsy turvy in Tredyffrin Easttown, snow and ice earlier in the week, temperatures of 61 degrees yesterday. So with a nice clear blue sky, a rather brisk temperature of 38 degrees and a little time on my hands I grabbed my hiking boots and visited one of my favourite spots. The George Lorrimer Preserve on North Valley Road in Paoli/Malvern. One of the things I love about our area are all the spaces you can walk and get outside and enjoy nature. Buying a home here allows you to enjoy these spaces, national parks, township parks, state parks, private arboretum, … (4 comments)

hiking: White Clay Creek Preserve and State Park - 02/10/19 07:23 AM
Yesterday I met up with some new friends from a group I have joined who hike regularly. I am finding all sorts of places where you can walk short or long distances. Whilst it is cold and the trees have no leaves right now you can see these will be wonderful places come Spring through the Fall.
We met up yesterday at White Clay Creek Preserve and State Park, which is right on the Pennsylvania Delaware border. When it was mentioned we would have some hills to climb in Delaware there was some joking that there are no hills in Delaware and … (5 comments)

hiking: Are you walking today, how far? - 02/09/19 04:21 AM
Today I have woken to find the lovely spring/summer temperatures have dropped. My hiking group has a 10 mile hike planned today down on the Pennsylvania/Delaware state line. I have been promised that it is very scenic and well worth the trip. It is about an hour away, and I have not been on a hike this long since I finished my camino in October. I am looking forward to it.
I am taking my backpack, along with some additional layers, rain jacket and poncho although I don't think I will need those other than as a windbreak. But, it also allows … (21 comments)

hiking: Where can I walk in Tredyffrin Easttown? - 01/17/19 10:51 AM
Walking is such a basic thing, we can take it for granted. There are many people who suffer disabilities or due to ill health don't have the ability to walk. But for those who do and live in Tredyffrin Easttown you have a lot of options for places to walk. Some of the trails which are paved are also suitable for those who use wheel chairs, some are more rugged and not wheel chair accessible.
It is one of the things we love about the area. Some neighborhoods are better than others for walking. Although we have lived in three homes in the area, since … (7 comments)

hiking: Like Minds - 01/07/19 01:35 PM
Last year, 2018 I challenged myself to walk one of the Camino de Santiago routes, just under 400 miles walking from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela. I ended up walking 532 miles reaching Santiago de Compostela and carrying on via Muxia to Finisterra (the end of the earth).
This was really a momentous life challenge and life achievment moment for me. It took me about a month and returning to every day life has been a challenge. Walking every day, on average 22-23 miles, leading a very simplistic life, get up, walk, drink coffee, eat breakfast, walk, more coffee, walk, eat lunch, … (17 comments)

hiking: Great way to start a Sunday morning - 06/11/17 09:57 AM
We all need routines, having a routine helps with our day. I like to exercise and get my body moving as quickly as I can any day of the week. Today, Sunday I grabbed my bike and took off for the Chester Valley Trail. I can bike downhill to the trail and it is pretty flat all the way out to Exton from Berwyn in Tredyffrin Easttown School District.
A beautiful morning I thought the trail was going to be crowded, but check out my short video and be as surprised as I was how quiet it was today. Maybe people are … (16 comments)
