surrey services for seniors: Sharing where you have been - 03/14/19 01:00 PM

Today I got to share where I have been. I loved my camino and raised $7500 for Surrey Services for Seniors as I walked from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostella and then on to Finisterra via Muxia a distance according to my phone of 532 miles. Although recently on some local hikes my phone seems to under report the mileage according to friends.
Anyway, I love talking about my Camino Portugues and had the chance today to share the Camino with some members and had a lot of fun. We recently put up a sign in our kitchen that says Do More … (12 comments)

surrey services for seniors: The big week is here! - 09/17/18 04:03 PM

Well my big adventure starts this week. Tuesday I leave for Portugal, flying in to Lisbon Airport on Wednesday late morning barring any delays. Then a trip into town on the Metro, a quick visit to a sports shop and then onto the Se de Lisboa to collect my Camino de Santiago credentials/passport which will allow me to stay in the Albergues/Hostels and obtain a Pilgrim meal from restaurants along the way at discounted rates. Then Wedensdaynight I will be staying at an AirBNB in Lisbon close to the Se de Lisboa where I will begin my trek on Thursday morning.

surrey services for seniors: How to support Surrey Services for Seniors without walking 400 miles - 09/14/18 01:01 PM
Surrey Services for Seniors is a local charity helping Seniors to age in place, allowing them to remain in their homes and their communities. They do much more than that, and to fully discover the depth of their offerings it is best to check out their website at
But how do you support them with out walking 400 miles? I recently found an anonymous donor who will match gifts up to $5000 and therefore a simple click allows you to double your gift and also support Surrey Services for Seniors at the same time.
Simply go to click the honor box and in … (4 comments)

surrey services for seniors: A new beginning - 09/12/18 07:16 AM
As we age we go through different seasons of life. There comes a time when we no longer need  a large home, and we may need one level living or even some additional help to live our lives as fully as we wish. What is next?
I have been a long time supporter of Surrey Services for Seniors that encompasses this in their mission to help seniors age in place and to remain in their community. So much so that as I walk the Camino Portugues from Lisbon to Santiago a distance of 400 miles I am raising funds for Surrey, you … (5 comments)

surrey services for seniors: It's all about community! - 09/06/18 10:59 AM
As a realtor my job is to help people buy and sell houses in Tredyffrin Easttown and along and around the Main Line. But it includes a responsibility to support our communities as well. One of the driving forces in my life is to help others. So, when I do anything I always consider how I can use it to help others even when it is something personal.
I recently decided to embark on a personal challenge, to walk one of the Camino de Santiago routes. These are pilgrim routes dating back thousands of years across parts of Europe all ending in … (12 comments)

surrey services for seniors: Why would you do that? - 09/04/18 01:08 PM

Imagine walking about 400 miles!
Why would you do that?
A friend recently walked one of the Camino Santiago routes, the Camino Francaise from St Jean du Pied to Santiago and in talking with each other I asked how she found the time to do that, a much longer distance than 400 miles. Her answer was, I made the time! That resonated with me, if there is something important to us we make the time to do it.
I have wanted to walk a trail for some time, I considered the Appalachian Trail but that took too long to take time off, although I know … (32 comments)

surrey services for seniors: In January we raised $200! - 01/30/18 08:42 AM
One of our aims this year is to make a donation of $100 with each home sale to Surrey Services for Seniors. So in January we raised $200.
We obviously want to raise much more than that during 2018. So we want to encourage you to list your home with us this year, there is a significant lack of inventory in our area and plenty of home buyers looking for homes. Many of those currently on the market have been on for longer than 100 days and buyers are waiting patiently for home owners to list.
Likewise, if you are looking for a home, … (12 comments)

surrey services for seniors: Where can you get a 2 course lunch for $4.00 in TE? - 01/10/18 12:18 PM
Where can you get a 2 course lunch for $4.00 in Tredyffrin Easttown?
Yesterday, I went with a friend to Surrey Services for Seniors for lunch. My friend lost his wife over a year ago and I have been telling him for a while to stop by and have lunch at Surrey.
Yesterday he had an appointment that got cancelled and called to see if I was available and if I wanted to join him for lunch. With the bad weather we have been having I thought a warm lunch would be a great choice, so I picked him up and we stopped off … (11 comments)

surrey services for seniors: What can we achieve with your help in 2018? - 01/04/18 08:06 AM
What does 2018 hold for Main Line real estate?
What can we achieve with your help in 2018? Today and throughout the year we are asking for your help.
We have supported several local charities over the years, Surrey Services for Seniors, TE Cares, Flite, Berwyn Business & Professional Association and the American Heart Association specifically. Through these we have helped support students with scholarships, local families in need and the Berwyn Fire Company
I have helped Surrey Services for Seniors by chairing and managing an antiques show for them for the past 12 years, in that time we have raised well over … (19 comments)

surrey services for seniors: The Main Line Antiques Show & Surrey Services for Seniors - 09/08/17 07:05 AM
The Main Line Antiques Show, other events and Surrey Services for Seniors
As you know I manage an antique show for a local charity I support, Surrey Services for Seniors. Yesterday, I was asked to appear on Surrey Solutions a program they film for the local community television network in our township which gets shared with other neighboring community channels as well.
I borrowed some items from some of our local exhibitors and for about half an hour we chatted and discussed the show. If you are local, you can obtain complimentary general admission tickets at the show website You can order … (6 comments)

surrey services for seniors: Being Human - 08/08/17 07:43 AM
I grew up in a family which dealt in antiques, every trip to the countryside often resulted in a purchase as did our vacations as well. This is a photo of my Dad at a major antiques show in London called The Grosvenor House Fair, held at the hotel on Park Lane in London in the ballroom, unfortunately the show is no longer in existence.
I did not want to be an antique dealer, I joined the British Army and went to Sandhurst, our equivalent of West Point after high school. But I had injured my back just before I went and … (27 comments)

surrey services for seniors: Surrey Services for Seniors - 03/11/17 06:52 AM
Tredyffrin Easttown Seniors are blessed to have Surrey Services for Seniors in the area.
Rather than needing to move, they can age in place, no rush. Located in Devon with locations in Media and Broomall as well, this local charity just received four stars out of four for the fourth year running by Charity Navigator.
One of the things about Surrey is the number of volunteers who give of their time and energy to the charity. This allows them to keep their costs down and to help more people. Started around a kitchen table, it now has multiple local locations and provides … (9 comments)

surrey services for seniors: Why did I do it? - 10/18/16 03:56 AM
Why did I do it?
This may be a question you ask yourself often or not and context is crucial to how that question makes you feel. Did the question make you cringe? Or maybe it started your brain off on an analytical process of organizing your thoughts about your beliefs.
To be honest I have asked myself this question in both contexts. I am very outspoken, and if you want an opinion I can give you one, what is the subject? Looking back that makes me cringe, even reading those words is embarrasing. There have been actions I have taken, things I … (2 comments)

surrey services for seniors: A busy weekend raising money for charity - 11/16/11 03:17 AM
The last week I have been managing an antique show, The Main Line Antiques Show, the only antiques show held in the heart of the Main Line is in its sixth year. As chair and manager of the show set up and duration of the show is a busy time for me. We moved last year to a new location the Radnor Valley Country Club in Villanova and this year we improved the walls we have been using, this of course created its own problems as we built out the show, nothing that could not be overcome and on opening night … (0 comments)

surrey services for seniors: Main Line Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) - 09/13/11 08:23 AM
The Main Line to the West of Philadelphia is a prime area for real estate, and even in today's challenged market. Many home owners in these western suburbs have owned their homes for may years and whilst their equity has reduced they are still in what many call an "Above Water" situation, owing less or nothing on their homes compared to what is due if anything to a mortgage company. What is important for many of these seniors is making sure that the mortgage company has filed a letter of satisfaction that shows not only that the mortgage was paid off … (0 comments)

surrey services for seniors: What to do this weekend? Chester County Antiques Show - 03/18/11 07:16 AM
Looking for something to do this weekend, make a quick trip to the Westtown School in West Chester PA then slow down and enjoy the antiques on display at the Chester County Antiques Show. Saturday 10-7 PM and Sunday 11-5 PM. As the organizer of the Main Line Antiques Show why am I telling you to visit another show. Frankly, because it is one of the better shows in the area, and many of my exhibitors are displaying their antiques and art so it is well worth a visit.
Antiques are one of the major ways you can go green. Go green, … (1 comments)

In every way the show shone, with many new exhibitors, new visitors, a new location at Radnor Valley Country Club and great feedback from dealers and visitors alike. The layout of the booths throughout the country club set off the club and also allowed the antiques and … (1 comments)
