Charlotte, North Carolina Region Housing Market Report:
May 2019
 
Charlotte region remained a seller's market in May 2019 with inventory remaining extremely tight and lower than one year ago, resulting in higher home list and sale prices due to continued high buyer demand. Closed sales were up slightly, but pending sales were up 17.3% year-over-year. The housing affordability index continued to decrease, as well. Months supply of homes remained very low at 2.3 months and even lower for homes priced under $200,000. Year-to-date trends are all also showing increased prices, higher sales, and tight inventory.

Ballantyne Ranks High As A Top Place In Metro Charlotte To Raise A Family
Niche.com recently ranked 20 best places to raise a family in the Charlotte metro area and the Ballantyne area, which was broken down into two sections as Ballantyne West and Ballantyne East, ranked #6 and #7, respectively on the 2019 list. Ballantyne received A+ ratings as an overall grade for both areas.  The Niche.com grading/scoring system takes into account key factors, such as the quality of local schools, safety, affordability, and access to family amenities, in an attempt to measure the appeal of an area for families.

Ballantyne Housing Market Update for April 2019.  Average and median Ballantyne home sale prices saw a slight decrease in April. Despite an increase in days on market, homes are still selling in under two months on average. Pending sales were up 18.1% in April. The months supply of homes at 1.9 months and an 8.8% drop in new listings keeps the Ballantyne/28277 zip code housing market a seller’s market.

First Quarter 2019 Charlotte, North Carolina region's home sales continued the trends we've seen since 2015. Home buyers are still finding the housing market very competitive with higher home prices and a lack of properties to buy, especially in affordable homes. Buyers looking for a bargain are "hard pressed" to find one. 
Meantime, home sellers continue to sell their homes relatively quickly and for top dollar, when priced right for condition and location. Charlotte's very popular Bike! Charlotte event begins on Friday April 29th and runs through May 15th. The 13th annual Bike! Charlotte event offers 17 days of bicycle-related events, whose purpose is to encourage Charlotteans to integrate biking into their daily routines. The event is sponsored by City of Charlotte Transportation Department, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), and Charlotte Sports Cycling.
