Closure Of Charlotte's Manor Theatre Is The End Of An Era
Charlotte's Manor Theatre has closed its doors after 73 years. The Manor Theatre in Myers Park was Charlotte's oldest movie house opened on April 11, 1947 with searting for 700. On its opening night in 1947 the featured movie was "The Egg and I," a romantic comedy starring Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray. 
 
With it's demise we lose our last art house cinema and a cultural icon. The Manor Theatre was truly an institution in the Queen City and I always enjoyed going there to see films that no other theatre in Charlotte was showing. I … (28 comments)

The Charlotte region's housing market in the third quarter of 2019 can best be described as having strong buyer demand and tight supply of housing inventory, which was down 19% compared with the third quarter of 2018. Lack of inventory saw average list prices increase 4.4% compared with the same time frame one year ago, while average sale prices increased 6.8%. No doubt that Charlottre remains a home seller's market as we look to the final quarter of 2019.

Charlotte, North Carolina region real estate report and housing market snapshot for September 2019. Charlotte region remained a seller’s market in September 2019 with inventory remaining extremely tight, dropping 19% compared with September 2018.
Lack of inventory and new listings resulted in higher home list and sale prices year-over-year, and year-to-date. Average sale prices increased 6.8% and median sale prices increased 10.4%% year-over-year. Year-to-date average and median sale prices increased 5.1% and 6.7% respectively.
Closed sales increased 8.3%, while pending sales were up 37.6% year-over-year in September.
Homes continue to sell quickly with average days on market 39 days.

For the 7th consecutive year, Charlotte, North Carolina has been ranked in the Top 50 Meeting Destination Cities in the nation by Cvent. This year, Charlotte moved up to a #28 ranking from #30 in 2018 and from a #31 ranking in 2017. As a top meeting destination city, Charlotte offers 166 meeting hotels and 27,197 sleeping rooms. 5,600 hotel rooms are within one mile of Charlotte's Convention Center. Closed sales were up slightly, but pending sales were up 17.3% year-over-year. The housing affordability index continued to decrease, as well. Months supply of homes remained very low at 2.3 months and even lower for homes priced under $200,000. Year-to-date trends are all also showing increased prices, higher sales, and tight inventory.

First Quarter 2019 Charlotte, North Carolina region's home sales continued the trends we've seen since 2015. Home buyers are still finding the housing market very competitive with higher home prices and a lack of properties to buy, especially in affordable homes. Buyers looking for a bargain are "hard pressed" to find one. 
Meantime, home sellers continue to sell their homes relatively quickly and for top dollar, when priced right for condition and location.
