A recent study by Bank of America for its Homebuyer Insights Report indicated that 93% of Americans who purchased a home felt they were happier by becoming home owners. In fact, 88% of those surveryed said that buying a home was the best decision they ever made. 78% of respondents also said their social life improved as a result of buying a home and that their family relationships improved, as well.

Average and median sale prices were also up by double digits in the first month of 2017. Inventory and the months supply of homes remain low and well below what they were one year ago.

As we enter the last month of the year in the Charlotte area, closed sales, pending sales, average sale prices were all up. Days on market until sale were down 21.0% in November versus November 2015 and down 16.9% year to-date. The story for 2016 remains that supply continues to struggle to meet demand, especially in affordable homes.
