50 years and still going strong.... the 50th annual Southern Christmas Show returns to Charlotte this week on Thursday, November 9th and runs through Sunday, November 19th. This year's theme is Silver and Gold in honor of it's 50th anniversary.
 
I've looked forward to the Southern Christmas Show every year since moving to Charlotte and attending my first one in 1998. I know Christmas is literally "just around the corner" once the show arrives in Charlotte. The Southern Christmas Show is the largest such holiday show in the country and one of the most popular.

McAdenville, North Carolina, known as Christmas Town, USA  kicks off it's annual Christmas Light Festival, Tuesday, December 1st, with the official lighting ceremony at 5:00 pm on the Plaza in front of the Pharr Family YMCA. McAdenville's lights will stay on each night through December 26th.
 
Why is McAdenville, North Carolina called Christmas Town, USA? Since the 1950's, each year the town is transformed into a "winter wonderland," featuring the biggest holiday light display in the USA, including:

Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte  returns this week on Wednesday, November 11th and runs through Sunday, November 22nd. This year, the Southern Christmas Show begins one day early in time for Veteran's Day. And to recognize Veteran's Day, USO North Carolina volunteers will be at the front entrance selling “I Support the Troops” stickers for $10 each. Anyone purchasing the stickers will receive a 10% discount on their purchases in select exhibit spaces displaying an “I Support the Troops”sign.
