The 2016/2017 school year begins in the Charlotte, North Carolina area in exactly two weeks. Schools are opening in York and Lancaster Counties in South Carolina tomorrow. There's still time to donate much need school supplies for needy children. Here's where you can drop off school supplies donations in the Charlotte area.
Ashley Furniture Home Stores Together with WSOC-TV, Ashley Furniture is collecting school supplies to benefit both Communities In School in Charlotte and Classroom Central and has placed collection bins in all eight of their store locations. Monday is the first day of the 9th Annual Color The Park Supplies Drive, benefiting Classroom Central, sponsored by the Ballantyne Corporate Park.
Classroom Central is a "free store" for teachers in six Charlotte area counties, providing needed school supplies to over 100,000 children living in poverty. Each year Ballantyne Corporate Park sponsors the Color the Park Marker Drive. With over 13,000 packs of colored markers donated in past years, they'd love to beat that number this year!
