People have continued to move to the Greater Charlotte area in large numbers despite the pandemic. According to the Charlotte Region Business Alliance, since March 2020, some 21,000 people moved to the Charlotte area.
Reasons for these moves include people moving here for jobs, for a lower cost of living, lower taxes, more space and less density, better quality of life, to follow children to be closer to grandchildren (the region ranks #1 for baby boomers who've chosen to retire close to their grandchildren, according to Meyers Research.) Is there a better day than Valentine's Day to talk about why I love living in Charlotte? When people ask me why as a transplant to Charlotte, I love living in the Queen City, I can tick off a dozen reasons (wll, actually 14 of them) without hardly thinking about it. The Charlotte Business Journal's 2018 40 Under 40 Honorees in 2018 were also asked why they loved living in Charlotte... to my astonishment their answers were exactly what mine are when I'm asked and incorporated many of the reasons we made a choice to move to Charlotte in 1998 and why we (26 comments)
North and South Carolina remain among the 10 most "moved-to" states in the nation during 2018, ranking #8 for North Carolina and #6 for South Carolina according to United Van Lines’ 42nd Annual National Movers Study. Charlotte's growth and reputation as a world-class corporate headquarters city received a huge boost this week with announcements from two major corporations of their plans to move their headquarters to the Queen City, bringing many high-paying jobs to the area.
Charlotte will now be home to seven of Fortune 500 firms headquartered in the area, including Bank of America (ranked #24), Lowe’s (ranked #40), Duke Energy (ranked #125), Nucor (ranked #151), Sonic Automotive (ranked #298) and Sealed Air (ranked # 456).
