Great news for Charlotte, North Carolina home owners ~ there will be no property tax increase this year. The City Council voted to shelve the City Manager's proposal to increase taxes by 1% for the new fiscal year beginning July 1st. The proposed 43-cent property tax hike was intended to help pay for 50 additional police officers and 18 firefighters.
Instead, the money for more police officers and firefighters will be raised by a combination of financing over a 5-year period for police and fire equipment and raising the annual garbage collection fee. The annual garbage collection fee will be raised $8 per household to (8 comments)
