Trulia's latest Rent Vs Buy Report shows that nationally it's now 36% less expensive to buy a home and pay a mortgage than to rent. Homeownership continues to be cheaper in 98 of the 100 largest US metro areas.

Buying a home is 23% cheaper than renting for millenials.
The top places where you can buy a home much more cheaply than renting are Texas, Florida and Louisiana so long as you plan to live in the home for at least 5 years and are putting down less than 10%.
