Waxhaw, North Carolina Receives 2019 National Main Street Accreditation No wonder it seems as if everyone wants to move to Waxhaw these days... the Town of Waxhaw is one of 46 designated North Carolina communities to receive 2019 Main Street America™ accreditation for its historic downtown. Congratulations to Waxhaw on a job well done!
Four additional Charlotte region communities were also accredited in 2019: Belmont, Concord, Monroe, Morehead City. During the 2018 fiscal year, North Carolina Main Street programs generated $222 million in local public and private reinvestment, helped open 247 net new businesses, generated 1,288 net new jobs, and saw the rehabilitation of 255 buildings and 372 façade improvements.
