   Architects in the 50's and 60's offered something efficient, even utilitarian, for a burgeoning populace that was headed west in search of temperate climate, and for a little more land. The economy was booming, and Californians started businesses in specialty agriculture, oil, tourism, shipping, film, and after 1940 advanced technology such as aerospace and electronics.
