In the late 1970’s the property now known as the Arroyo Seco Townhouses consisted of a twelve acre field riddled by erosion. The trenches were so large that several locomotives placed inside the gullies could be hidden from view.
The owner of this parcel had attempted to sell the property without success. Since the property was zone for residential use with one home per minimum lot size of 35,000 sq. ft., Nora Sims recommended that the property be split into five smaller parcels, using the washes that scared the terrain as boundary lines for the newly created, smaller parcels.
