Look at the cockeyed front door. Look at the window openings. Look at the ridge line of the 2nd floor over the garage. The front door was a good clue. Then came the laser level readings of the first floor from left exterior wall to right:

This house in Omaha, NE had a 6 month old furnace and water heater. The only 2 sources of carbon monoxide in the home. During my home inspection, my CO detector hit 20 ppm when I was running the furnace. I recalibrated my detector and went back into the house. It then registered 29 ppm. At this point, I shut off the furnace and aired the house out. I contacted the homeowner who was a professional flipper and informed him of the carbon monoxide. 2 months go by and my client suspects something isn't right and wants me to perform a re-inspect … (4 comments)

I had the pleasure of inspecting an "easy" 1,100 s.f. condo yesterday. It had been flipped. Looked nice and clean. New carpet, new paint, new countertops, new fixtures, etc. The basement was newly finished with an unfinished utility room. I flushed the basement toilet a few times, ran the sink for a while, and everything checked out. I turned the washer & dryer on, let the washer fill up and run while I inspected the rest of the interior. I inspected an estate sale property recently where I found the B-vent flue pipe misaligned on the water heater and actively discharging carbon monoxide into the home. The Seller had recently moved into an assisted living facility. All of her belongings were left behind as her family had not had the chance to clean the house out and redistribute her things. When I stumbled onto the flue pipe leaking carbon monoxide, I couldn't help but wonder if the reason she had went into assisted living was from old age or from carbon monoxide poisoning. Imagine my surprise when I opened up the main disconnect panel on the utility pole to find it packed with termite tubes! Luckily, I didn't find any damage in the home. In the Omaha area, it's not a matter of if you get termites, it's a matter of when. Walk around the exterior of your home looking for mud tubes, then inside focusing in your basement or crawlspace foundation walls and wood posts. This beautiful 3,500+ s.f. home in Omaha, Nebraska had it all! It truly was a dream home!!! One of the biggest issues found during my home inspection was the unique front that set this home apart in the neighborhood was sinking. I'll show you... The photo below shows where the weight of the overhang sits...directly onto the concrete steps. Based on the settlement, I don't believe there are any footers under this area.
