electrical hazard omaha: How HOT Did You Want Your Shower??? - 03/08/15 01:42 PM
This east half of the duplex had the only shower located in the unfinished basement, right next to the main electric panel that was inside the shower curtain, plus the floor drain backed up to make sure you'd get electrocuted!!!  This was located in South Omaha.  The listing should have read "Electrifying investment opportunity!"

During our home inspections, we always have to be on our toes.  We never know what dangerous situations we're going to come across.
Below are 3 photos taken from 3 different homes of their main electric panels. 
The first photo was of a brand new 5,000 s.f. home.  I was performing my inspection amongst about 15-20 sub-contractors all rushing to complete the build prior to closing.  Imagine my surprise when I lifted off the main panel cover to find that 1 of the screws had gone partially through the sheathing of one of the main service entrance cables which was running … (0 comments)

electrical hazard omaha: Omaha Home Inspection: Electrocution Hazard - 11/24/10 12:32 AM
The basement in this high-end custom built home was finished by a professional.  Unfortunately, that professional didn't know how to install drywall around the main panel so when you put the panel cover on, it sat flush with the breakers.  Anybody can reach right in beside these breakers and touch live wires.
