real estate video: Online Video - Make Your Investment Count - 01/14/10 03:12 AM
If it hasn’t already happened, it won’t be long before everyone is sick of hearing about how great online video is. For the record, as co-founder of a video production company, I think the stampede to capture, edit and share video content is fantastic.

That statement however, comes with a very large caveat.  Whether you are a brand new or long established business, if you are looking to put video content online, proceed with caution.

Video’s proliferation on the web has had a notable side effect:  More bad video...everywhere you look.  What can you do to ensure that … (3 comments)

The focus of the show will be one on one interviews with top producers in the luxury real estate market. We look forward to having viewers not only tune in, but offer comments and constructive criticism on how we can improve the … (0 comments)

real estate video: Agents - Sell the home (not the homeowner) - 05/10/07 01:05 AM
Recently, we were setting up a video shoot for a gorgeous muliti-million dollar exclusive.  The agent was eager to get started and was looking forward to the process. "I can't wait," she confessed "I think this is going to be so exciting."  She then informed me that she would like the owner to participate in the interview process.  Actually she was hoping we would follow the owner around and let them talk about the many features in the home.
It took a bit of persuasion, but after a few minutes it was agreed that we would not have the owner on camera. … (5 comments)

real estate video: Active Rainers ask: Is YouTube a good place for my video? - 05/05/07 04:20 AM
As video continues to make its way into the Real Estate market, professionals want to know how to best distribute their content. A question we occasionally are asked is, "Can we post our video to YouTube?"
The short answer is yes, it is possible. To me, the more valid question is: Should you post your property video on YouTube? My answer would be an unequivocal, NO. I am a big fan of what YouTube has done. I regularly stop by and check out funny or amazing clips on the site. But from a marketing standpoint, do you want your property video sandwiched … (13 comments)

real estate video: The Best Compliment a Service Professional could receive - 05/01/07 12:31 AM
My business partner (Lathe Poland) and I had a meeting recently with a client we have worked with for over a year. The topic was how we could be integrated more consistently into their day to day business. Normally this would not be noteworthy, but in this case it was the client who started the dialogue with us.
For those of you who may not know, we run a video production firm that caters to luxury exclusives.  As of January 1st we have begun traveling outside of the Northeast, offering our service nationally.
Throughout the discussion the client mentioned that they had received … (3 comments)

real estate video: Calling AR Professionals - Podcasts & Vidcasts are they effective? - 04/29/07 09:07 AM
As technology steamrolls ahead, new barriers are being broken.  Each day professionals in every field are experimenting with new applications and techniques that claim to make life easier.  With "transparency" being the buzz word of '07, seasoned real estate professionals continue to test the waters and see what marketing techniques are most effective.
While I have been involved in real estate video productions for nearly 3 years, I am an absolute newbie on Active Rain.  So, my question(s) for any of you AR pros out there is...do podcasts and vidcasts work?
Are they just to wow a seller, ("yes sir, we are going … (7 comments)

real estate video: Using DVD's for Listing Presentations - 04/27/07 05:52 AM
So here you are, you've spent the money on a video, had it posted to the web, made DVD's and along the way you sold your property.  After the fact you realize you have extra DVD's.  A total waste?  Definitely not....put these to good use in your listing presentations. You walk into your potential clients home and tell them that you can sell their property.  You explain to them, that you are not like every other agent out there...no, you are extraordinary.  The fact is however, most agents will offer the seller a very similar marketing package.  After sitting through a few … (6 comments)

real estate video: RE Video Gaining Momentum Nationally - 04/27/07 01:30 AM
More brokers and agents each day are embracing video as a marketing tool for their property listings.  While many have been slow to adopt this technology, the ice has been broken and many agents are reaping the benefits.  Aimee Fitzpatrick made it the topic of her latest cover feature in Newsday's Real Estate Section. Here are a few comments about video by real estate agents in the article:
"It makes a house come alive for prospective buyers. It eliminates wasted walk-throughs, and hopefully will shorten the time a house is on the market. In today's market there's an abundance of inventory … (11 comments)

real estate video: Room Reviews - Prep for Your Pro - 04/25/07 09:19 AM
When you acquire a luxury exclusive, one of the first things you will probably do is bring in a professional to photograph or video the dwelling. In most cases however, even the finest of luxury homes may not be photo ready.  A plethora of rules apply here, but rather than bombard you with a list of generalities, I'll give you a room by room breakdown of faux pas we see most often in the video profession. We'll focus on the main living areas and master suite.Dining RoomCustomarily, this is one of the easiest rooms to make ready. Many homeowners or agents … (2 comments)
